    Default New Rating System

I like the idea and may love it soon.

    Couple things that I hate/recommend:

    1) After rating, we are brought to a screen that I don't give a shit about and am forced to work more to get back to where I want to be. I'd prefer the screen to look refreshed but maybe some text at the top of the screen to assure us of the rating having gone through.

    2) I would probably want to rate more than one post within the same thread. It would be much more efficient if we could somehow click on multiple ratings and then click a submit button at the bottom of the page to process all of them at the same time.

    A) Sorry if this is not the first "new rating system' thread
    B) I understand that the rating system may have been reproduced by a 3rd party, which might make it difficult to implement any sort of changes

It sucks and I don't like seeing stupid combo boxes on every post. I wouldn't mind if it was on a thread by thread basis though.

I agree with both of the responses thus far.

I took the signature function up to clean up pollution on the web. This just took a step backwards.

I think the best idea might be to have a rating for only the OP. A standard would be to include this rating on the forums homepage beside the thread.

IMO, a rating system is not needed and it looks like a mess

Not crazy about it. Too much busyness on the screen and I can't imagine more than very occasionally wanting to rate a post or thread, anyway.

Maybe. That will take some programming tweakage. It's a good idea, for sure, and had thought of trying it. You don't think it will make the forum topics view look cluttered?

The point is to give an indication of what threads to read, is it not? Not much point if you're already reading it.

Of course. We were eventually going to have some way of indexing highly-rated topics.

Just have the rating appear next to the subject line on each forum's index page.

Edit: Actually, it should come up as part of the subject line, so that it shows up in search as well (view posts since last visit)

this is so much better than it was this morning. i also like the idea of seeing the rating on the forum homepage.

Makes them s instead of s. Xianti. That way people can show how much they a thread. Plus they're red 'n' stuff.

    I'll be moving along now.
