Default Time For Absolute Poker To Go?

I suggest Absolute Poker not be supported by this website. I really believe Absolute should be boycotted against. They are not good for online poker and they should not be recommended as a poker room to play at.

If you don't know what the issue is, here are a bunch of links (links 2 & 4 will have quick descriptions of the problem):

    http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...oker-60478.htm
    http://www.absolutepokercheats.com/
    http://www.casinomeister.com/rogue/n...lute_poker.php

    http://www.casinomeister.com/forums/...ker-issue.html
    http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...t=1&vc=1&nt=11

I'm not directly involved with this issue at all. I don't play on Absolute, don't play high stakes games or even regularly play on a U.S. friendly site. But I am an online poker player and do not want to see poker rooms like them get away with this. It's just not good for online poker.

I just came to this forum to make this exact thread. The way they've handled this issue has been shocking and I don't think FTR should continue to be an affiliate.

i was quick to believe that the evidence was clearly the best id seen regarding cheating.
What bothers me however is that the account are CONFIRMED chip dumpers and tehrefore should be auto banned.
From what i read that hasnt happened, so while i dont like what we are proposing, i do agree with it.

    P5ers,

The past 72 hours have been really difficult for us here at P5s as things have gotten out of hand quickly in regards to the AP super-user situation. We have never faced a situation quite like this before; one of our trusted partners has been accused of serious security vulnerabilities, and the accusations appear to have merit. In fact, when this situation first came to light, our inclination was to dismiss it as another “online poker is rigged” post. However, after careful examination of all the facts presented, it’s just not possible for us to do that anymore.

Thereby, we have decided to indefinitely suspend any promotion of Absolute Poker, including site links, banners, and inclusion of future tournaments in the rankings. Please understand that this is not a conviction on our part; it's simply an acknowledgement that significant and meaningful questions have arisen about the security of their site, and until those questions can be resolved to our satisfaction, we don't feel comfortable encouraging our users to play there.

VERY nice to see Pocketfives take some action and stand up. BonusWhores no longer has AP or UB listed and from what I read they have been blacklisted.
And of course Casinomeister has moved AP to their rogue pit.

Nice to see these sites taking the lead with this, hopefully more will follow.
  11. #11
What are the AP affiliates? Would you suggest boycotting those too?
  12. #12
Not us, them. We still need to play what is best for us. Whether AP is right or wrong. you do what is right for you, since our money is meaningless to them. I personally have left AP since I don't feel the site will remain active for long. They will give no warning when shutting down.

Having all the poker forums and links get cut will result in more action from AP than you or I removing our money. The Upper stakes at AP is all but dead. The site will not remain in existence for long without upper echelon players, so how safe your BR is from that point alone may be a problem in itself.

As for FTR, I think the few dollars you may receive in the future from links and banners does not compensate for being known as one of the last to take a stand against outright cheating of poker players by AP or an employee that they outright deny. This is not an innocent until proven guilty situation. This is Cheating and I think action needs to be taken.

I know Eric, Xianti and Tyson are currently out of town, but I have e-mailed them a link to this thread. And thanks for your PM Pie.

    Pretty ballsy what P5s did.

Ugh.. I have almost half my bankroll in AP. Perhaps I should cash it out now while I still can.

Meh, there were alot of things about AP that I liked. Obviously I have little choice now but to cash out , but I'm very disappointed that it's come to this.

But I suppose I should be more concerned about whether or not I ever get my money back. Hopefully it goes through by tomorrow.

IDK. Theres a lot of low stakers on there paying a not-insignificant amount of rake who have absolutely no idea whats going on with AP. New year is a good estimate i think.

I think P5s making a statement sets it out. A significant not trivial issue ahs arisen and AP now need to be fully open with the community they take money and profit from or force that community to take action that hits them in the pocket when they dont ask serious questions asked about there operation.

BW and P5s are two of the biggest references in poker for on;ine, so them saying something means a lot.

Admins are out of the country and in Europe right now. I'm sure they will comment once they get a chance to catch up on all the info.

I am back in the US but Tyson and Xianti are still abroad. We talked about this issue when we were together in the Czech Republic. We are taking this seriously but I don't want to comment on the specifics yet.

    http://www.pocketfives.com/18B87A4F-...9C725E0FA.aspx

PocketFives just received a phone call from Absolute Poker confirming the suspicions of the online poker community over the past month. While we need to be vague in this post to respect their wishes, we can say that their systems were compromised, and that they are prepared to provide the details in a statement coming shortly.

Part of the statement will include a plan to refund players affected by this compromise.

We are extremely relieved to hear this outcome, as our most important goal in all this is to see justice given to those who were cheated in this process. Pocketfives is extremely proud to have played a part in the process of uncovering the impropriety that has occurred. We would of course like to thank all the other parties who played a key role in this process—specifically the folks that have been posting here and at twoplustwo.com.

This is great news for everyone. Keep your eyes out for the statement.

    Extremely Relieved,

As Eric mentioned, Tyson and I are in Vienna now. We haven't been able to set aside time with Eric to give this the consideration it deserves but this has been disturbing news, to say the least. The timing has been unfortunate as this story broke while the three of us are on vacation. We most certainly are taking this seriously and understand the ramifications. We will decide on a course of action soon.

In the meantime, you should know that the poker room rankings (as listed on our front page and elsewhere) are ordered according to user reviews. That means YOUR input has a direct effect on Absolute's place on our poker room rankings. No one has yet made any mention of this scandal in our user reviews for Absolute Poker.

Please go to the AP user review section and state how you feel about these recent events and rate it accordingly.

Note that all user reviews need to be checked for spam by us before they go live, so it may not appear immediately after you submit. But we will clear them.

I have taken the initiative and posted a user beware review for Absolute, awaiting approval from the admins.

This is scary stuff and since I play(ed) there frequently, I am disturbed. I have requested withdrawal *crossing fingers* I have no issues receiving this!

One of the things uncovered by 2p2 was that managers were essentially advertising for Absolute on forums. Reading some of the user reviews with that in mind is just plain hilarious.

We've moved our AP review page to our "Not Recommended" section and are in the process of removing our AP banners.
    http://www.flopturnriver.com/Sitemap.html#closed

There now is no other link to our AP review page on our site and AP no longer appears in any of our lists of poker rooms (except on this "Not Recommended" list).

I understand that people think AP needs to go, but think about it as a Web master?
every link that you have means $$ rolling in when someone uses it.

FTR reviews and links to 67 sites, and links to further 164 sites without review, do they need the money that bad?

Just a reminder of how much money we are talking about here -

Of 7 out of 10 of the names they had data on, over $1,500,000 was stolen.

For all the wrong reasons players seem to love AP. Why? I don't have a clue.
  45. #45
All the good players left about a year ago so now it's fish paradise?
  46. #46
Oh btw, I've taken some time off from the poker scene and totally missed the UB scanda and I'm just now starting to read up on itl. I doubt this actually matters to anyone but the fact that FTR still links to them makes me think a lot less of FTR right now. These things are very bad for the integrity of online poker, but the fact that the community doesn't take a firm stand against it is even worse.
  47. #47
AP is just total BS and now everyone who says online poker is rigged has this to back instance to back them up. If one or two more sites cheat or have any scandals like this i believe it will shake the online poker world to the point where almost everybody will withdraw their money and play at casinos and home games and such. Shoot i might join them. lol
