This was trips, but against the same villian as hand #3 only an orbit or so later. Since #3 he had pushed all in UTG one time. Looking back probably a dumb call, but here's what went through my mind.

a) His previous preflop call made me think he could be playing any ten despite his stats.
b) He took my stack before and may be looking to intimidate me.

Reasons not to call
a) Pot was small
b) Trips with crap kicker is a bad hand to stack over
c) He's probably pushing with the nuts again

Feel free to add more reason not to call so I can engrain this in my brain.

Hand 1 : You're getting a good price, but this is probably a crying fold. You don't beat anything he bets the river considering you showed strength on turn. This is always a value bet.

Hand 2 : Call...

Hand 3 : Sucks to pay off JQ like this, but I probably do so. KQ and KJ of hearts probably play this hand the same way as JQ.

Hand 4 : Tough, but he probably has 777 and is hoping you have a 10. Fold.

1. Raise flop, fold as played.
2. Raise preflop, call all in.
3. All in.
4. Bet flop, your hand isn't strong enough to slowplay/CR. Fold to turn push.

Funny, I called hand 1 and folded hand 2.

Now what do I expect to be ahead of in hand two in this limped pot? 88, A9s, JT, J8, T8? Seems a little bit strong for something I have beat except for the set of eights. He four bet me. Thoughts please.

I usually like to limp TT-JJ in the EP, MPish range. I have to make an adjustment being back at UB. This used to just be spew because I'd get too many callers if I raised it this early and the CBet callers were adding up.

yeah i agree that you're behind to a straight a lot in hand 2-the thing is, you have 30% equity against that while when you're ahead to (88,JT, draw) your equity against that is greater than 70%. Plus you're getting pretty decent odds at this point.

With the board straightening out on hand 1, you need to be betting closer to pot on the turn.
