Default 43s - please comment on my play

    Stack sizes:
    UTG: $50
    UTG+1: $121.83
    MP1: $77.25
    MP2: $45.20
    MP3: $53.80
    CO: $43.45
    Button: $33.75
    SB: $71.35
    Hero: $54.40

Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is BB with
    3 folds, MP2 raises to $1, 4 folds, Hero calls $0.5 (pot was $1.75).

    Flop: ($2.25, 2 players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets $0.5, Hero raises to $2.5, MP2 raises to $5, Hero calls $2 (pot was $9.25).

    Turn: ($12.25, 2 players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets $5, Hero calls $5 (pot was $17.25).

What do I do here and what do you put MP2 on?
Feel free to comment on anything in this hand. Am I too fishy here or does it make sense? Please explain your comments.

Looks like he has a weakish overpair - like 99...I would have lead the river (and I wouldn't be in this hand to begin with but that's another matter). He could also have a stronger overpair and be playing it like a moron, and possibly even something like KQ /AJ ...either way you're ahead on that river, though I still lead it and probably call his minreraise.
But now that you didn't lead, a reraise to $15 or so (more if you think he'll call) is fine.

To me, the river bet of $5, the same bet as on the turn, says that he doesn't like that 4 on the river but still wants to put some money out there to not look weak when a possible set presents itself. If he thought he had the hand won, he'd have probably lead out with a larger, but still attractive 1/2pot bet or so.

You've got the best hand here. I'd put him on a flush draw on the flop. Maybe AT or KT perhaps. Caught the T along the way which is probably why he still threw the river bet out there. I'd re-raise him to about $15 and hope to get a call.

its not a blocking bet; he has position...........

    make it 20$

I didn't mean to imply that it was a blocking bet. I figure he had TP with good-to-best kicker. I don't think he was betting out with air there. He probably thought he had the better hand there. His bet would pay off if someone who hit their 8 or 6 called it. If it gets raised up after the last 4 drops, he knows that he's likely beat.

I meant to imply it was a "safe" bet (less than 1/3 pot) that could take the pot down there if his opponent was on a flush draw that failed or didn't feel like bottom pair was any good, or win the pot if his top pair stood up. If he lost or got pushed off the pot, it wasn't a lot.

but, see, you are implying that it was a blocking bet by your description of the reasons for it. if he feels like his hand isn't good a decent percentage of the time or he feels like he wont often get called by weaker hands, he can just check behind. avoiding appearing weak and trying to figure out if his hand is good are not his concerns because he has position.

Villain has done a lot of minimum bets/raises in this hand as if he likes his hand quite a bit. I would pop it up to like $20 since it looks like JJ+ to me.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

flopped straight? wtf. I'm confused. Anyone else think the flop action is incredibly loose?
