I know your first thought is: reraise the flop. Ignore for a moment the lack of a flop reraise.

My only question is: Can I get away from this hand? My answer was yes, then no, then yes again. I was hoping for some help sorting this out.

So here's my logic (there wasn't much when I called... he doesn't have J9 right?):
AA/KK/QQ/JJ don't overbet the river like that, right?
A8 is looking for a showdown
A9 makes some sence, but how often will they call utg?
t9, 89 might play this way, but we split it
    99 is a good possibility
    10s have me beat
7s, 8s, 6s wouldn't lead the flop then slow down on the turn, right?

There's $20 in the pot and it's $15 to call, are the splits enough to justify calling here?

So then I think, maybe he put me on a missed flush draw. I saw weakness with his turn check and attacked. If he has any stats on my this isn't an unlikely read.

Btw... is there another hand converter? bisonbison keeps missing some action.

oh my, sorry, I misinterpreted the converter.

I'm with ya every step. Pot sized bets. He chased his hand all the way. You could've upped the turn bet no? since you have him hooked, and walking away with the pot at that point wouldn't be bad.
Sometimes they just make their hand.
I think you played it right.

Can I fold it on the river?

I'm playing for half the pot. It's like 8 or better stud or omaha high/low.
    Check out my self-deprecation here!

I bet more on the river, I personally couldnt get away from this hand and would play it similarly to this. I dont hate a call on the flop as a flush draw isnt usually leading with a PSB. On the turn Id put in about 2/3-3/4 the pot, river I would bet about 2/3 for value and dont think I could fold on the river. I dont really see the villain as chasing anything though, he had an overpair and you never raised until the river when he filled up.

From what I have seen, when a $25 NL player check calls and then raises huge, they hit their hand.

I still haven't found the discipline to fold when I get reraised huge because I have pretty good second best hands that are hard to throw away at $25NL. I am trying to get the discipline to fold when I get reraised huge on the river because everytime it happens, I get stacked. Pokertracker would probably help with this, right? Or is this too tight of a line of thinking?

I like the way you played it, and don't think I could get away from the hand either.

You have to raise the flop; a made non-nut str8 on flop isn't a good smooth-call, slow-play/trapping hand.

I'd bet more on the turn.

The best you can hope for is a split pot, you're calling $15 to protect your $7 share in the pot. The board is paired and you don't even have the nut straight. Do you honestly think you'll split this pot more than 2/3 of the time?? My experience tells me that you'll lose this hand alot more than 1/3 of the time. I would need at least J9 to pay this off, then you'd at least have a chance of winning the hand outright if he's overplaying the 9.
