    Default AA scary board

Hi guys first post, love the site any advice you can give me on this hand would be great, should I have called? No real reads to be honest, it would have helped greatly if I had one. One thing i thought was if he had made his straight, why would he go all in at that point and not try and squeeze some more out of me? any thoughts suggestions would be much appriecated.

Lay it down. You'll find better spots.

He was bluffing but you still have to lay 'em down.

Push AI on the flop or at least really overbet the pot for like 9-10 bucks. You built a nice pot preflop with the raise. The board was suited and coordinated but you had the Ah so any flush draw as not drawing to the nuts and maybe you sneak one in the back door. No shame in taking it down right on the flop. Fear the JQ but I am willing to take that risk.

Every now and then you will run into the JQ or a low set and lose the whole bannana that's poker.

If you go AI on the flop, you may fold a set who fears you got lucky and hit the str8 and you would fold a reasonable player holding a flush draw b/c you both know he does not have the Ah.

You know, it's funny. When I have an actual hand and win without showdown, I hear this a lot. When I don't have an actual hand and win without showdown, I hear this a lot.

Just the psychology of poker players. Always bein bluffed.

Yes, you have to lay this down. You can find more safe spots to get your money in with them rockets. It's a waiting game.

It's just too easy to pay someone off when they only need one card for the str8 or flush. Not worth paying to find out if they're bluffing here. Plus you lose to 2 pair pretty easy here with people playing suited conns for a raise. Gotta lay it down.

He could be bluffing, then again he could be on a lot of hands that beat yours. That's what happens when you don't go all-in pre-flop on pocket A's. Sometimes you need to lay em down. (Not that I'm advocating always going all-in everytime pre-flop on pocket As. Just making an observation.)

Most likely his hand beat yours but was in some way vulnerable....he thought his hand was good, but did not want you to call. He could have had the sucker straight, he could have been scared of a flush...he could even have flopped trips.

Or he could have been bluffing off his ass...but with no read, calling this would not be an EV+ play in my mind.

thanks for the advice guys, the table seemed tight pre flop from what i had gathered thus far and I thought that an all in pre flop would have scared every one off, maybe that would have been the better result as it turned out but I gave it a decent raise and thought that would be the best play.

be glad this laydown was as easy as it was, especially if he had JQ or something. One day the flop will come 27K and when you bet someone will push with a set: you're really F'd then.
i betcha that i got something you ain't got, that's called courage, it don't come from no liquor bottle, it ain't scotch
