Default AA vs KK probably nothing you ever read about or experiene

Have you ever flopper a set of Ks and been beaten by a set of As before (K and A came on the flop)?

    happened to me

Im want to know the odds of two people flopping sets, not pre-flop odds, but at the flop

Yes, it happened to me, and what made me really mad is I could have made the laydown too (well more like I didnt have to reraise him all in).. but I just couldnt believe it as possible. I had the read on him as AA from the beginning, but when that king and ace showed up i quickly forgot and just pushed all in.

If you had a pre flop read on him as AA why would you continue with hand pre flop?

In my case he was a loose aggressive player that bet from 3 places away from the blind as usual and it it was his normal raise

Because laying down kings to aces pre-flop is impossible - it can't be done.

yes it is possible to lay down kk to aa preflop

it has been done in the wsop

I have done it twice before, but both times i had good REALLY reads that i was beat

i am not asking for the reasons why it could happen, simply i am only asking the odds of both pairs floping a set

(I am not implying that i am at a world class level, or that I lid down kk to aa in the wsop, like a true pro can. all I am saying is that i have done it, but don't think i could it in the same atmosphere that a pro would be able to)

Yes, but I didn't lose. When it became clear he either had AA or KK preflop and the flop came AK5, I sorta narrowed his holdings a tad.

My friend sent me this hand history the other day (he's "Friend") ...

    Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 5 handed) converter

    Button ($22.55)
    Friend ($20.4)
    BB ($7.7)
    UTG ($8)
    MP ($24.65)

Preflop: Friend is SB with K, K. Friend posts a blind of $0.1.
UTG raises to $1, Button raises to $4, Friend raises $16.40 (All-in), 2 folds, Button calls $16.40.

    Flop: ($40.05) 2, K, A (3 players)

    Turn: ($40.05) 3 (3 players)

    River: ($40.05) K (3 players)

    Final Pot: $40.05

Button shows [ Ad, As ] a full house, Aces full of kings.
Friend shows [ Kd, Kh ] four of a kind, kings.
Friend wins $40.05 from the main pot with four of a kind, kings.

yes it can. If you are sure he has aces.. and your playing $10/$20 NL, and he raises you all in.. if he has them its going to cost you 2k most of the time. are you prepared to risk that? the same applies in lower stakes, if you call because its only 25/50c.. you will lose money in the long run.

say your 90% sure he has AA when your holding KK.. would you call with 33 or 44 or 22?? KK is no better for you.

Bill Fillmaff obviously doesn't know how to play Kings headsup does it?

Odds of two players hitting their set on the flop...it's early, so correct my math if I'm wrong. Each has 2 possible cards to get, so the number of flops where this happens is (2 * 2 * 44) = 176 out of (48 * 47 * 46)/6 = 17296, roughly 1.02%.

    I've been in a hand where 3 people hit sets on the flop. Chances, (again, brain hasn't started yet), being (2 * 2 * 2) /( (46 * 45 * 44)/6) = 8/15180 = .0527%

This has happened to me three times. I had the set of aces once and the set of kings twice.

i saw AA vs QQ and both hit a set on the flop... shockingly, the chick with QQ did not bust out even though she had the AA guy covered... she was too passive, he was too tricky.
