Hero? Do you believe he has something. I know I could certainly throw out a check raise on a scare card in his position. I don't put him on a 7,9 or 5. Do you?

    Your move?

There's a lot of hands he could have.

At this point you're getting 5:1 from the pot. You have no draw, and two overcards. Whatever he has, it's probably better than ace high. I would look at it as if he has a pair of nines or an overpair in the hole (tens or jacks), and play it accordingly, discounting implied odds entirely - because even if you catch an ace or king you don't know for sure you are ahead, and you don't know if you can get much more money out of him. This is a grey area but I probably fold just based on the pot odds, which are slightly unfavorable even if all six of your outs are clean.

Option 2 is to proceed as if you have an overpair and keep firing away. I hate doing this without a read on my opponent, and I hate doing it out of position. On this hand I don't think I'd bother.

Why wouldn't you put him on these cards? I'm not saying he should be. I'm just saying why wouldn't you? Does he only play broadways and pairs for raises? Even then you may be behind. Is he loose passive? That would increase the chance you're behind. You need to consider all the information. You can't just NOT put people on rags generally speaking, if that's what you're doing.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

Good point. This is a classic case of not believing a raise and also illustrating the dangers of getting AK struck. At the time, I didn’t even slow down and consider the raise when it came in. Very stupid of me. I happily called and gave him the rest on the river. This post is my punishment for being such an idiot. Hehe.
