Somehow in this hand, I convinced myself that dgr71 was bluffing. Here was my reasoning:

He smooth called me after my raise on the flop. That means one of three things:
 a) he flopped a monster and is trying to slow-play
 b) he flopped a drawing hand (draw to nut flush)
 c) he has a little something -something but the 3 diamonds on the board are making him nervous

I put the odds on a) to be slim. After all, I re-raised...the typical move would be to re-raise me right back. After all, why slow-play when I show I like my hand and possibly have a flush myself? Get my money right there on the flop.

Therefore, after the flop, I was equally torn between b and c. When the diamond came on the turn and he instantly went all in, I went into the tank. I finally discounted b, based on this reasoning: if he just made the nut hand on the turn, why put me all-in? Why make a bet where I will not call? Why not make a token bet (another dollar or two)? After all, I signaled I liked my hand on the flop...why not wait for me to go over the top and then put me all in? The all-in seemed way too fishy to me.

AND....I also figured I had some outs, even if my read was erroneous. But I honestly didn't think it was.

These were all thoughts I had while I convinced myself he was totally and utterly bluffing.

I won the hand, and dealt a pretty big suckout (I was only 20% to win when my money went in the middle)....so I'm not complaining about that. I just can't believe I was so totally off base.
