Bad Call

I ended up losing as many chips as I could have, but I think I played these bullets fairly well except for the call on the end. I checked here on the flop to minimize my losses if someone outflopped me, prevent me from having to face a check-raise and make a tough decision, and give someone a chance to catch an overcard or bluff at it on the turn. On the end, I figure his pot overbet all-in meant he had trip 7s or better, or he was stone-cold bluffing the scare card and dangerous board that I would have no piece of with just big cards. I made the wrong decision obviously.

I took most of it back from him on this lucky hand, one of those gutterball monster hands I talk about. If he was lucky enough to flop top-two or better I gotta pay him off here with more than 1/3 of my stack already committed, top and bottom two-pair, and many hands that I am ahead of that will make this move: 67, 77-QQ, a monster draw (i.e. a 7, 3, or 8 suited in diamonds), or what he actually had.

Bet that flop, if he comes back over top you can be safe thinking he's holding A7s and let it go.

Checking the flop is just asking someone with T9s to draw out on you.

Calling the turn I wouldn't do. They checked to the preflop raiser expecting a bet. You didn't bet so they bet the turn knowing that the flop missed you.

What makes you think your aces are to an all-in bet on the river?

Its a corridinated board. A "not really, but could be possible" straight, and a flush on the board.

You can't beat a 7 or the flush.. There is around $55 in this pot, you have to be right every time to make money on this call.

As mike said, you should put forward a tester bet on the flop, maybe half the pot, then if it gets raised you can safely fold, and if it gets called then be very very cautious on the turn and river.

6max, people do funny things like this. Just like what the hell was he calling with 54o for?

The second hand was also 5 minutes after the last one. I'm it could have been a bit of tilt.


But 6max is also a game of aggression, so if you pfr you can rep any big flop that hits.

In the AA hand, I don't think I should bet that flop just so I don't shut myself out of this pot. What's to stop someone from raising me with 99-KK, or even just on a draw or bluff? When he checked and just called on the turn I figured he was either weak or being cautious, since I didn't think he'd check a 7 or overpair twice. The all-in bet on the end made me figure he either had a big hand (KK or better), or that he was trying to take the pot away from me. I incorrectly figured his overbet meant he was buying it. If he made a big move on the turn or a pot-sized bet on the river I would have folded.

Yeah, you can frequently get by with aggression alone playing 6-max. Generally, I will randomly raise some only remotely playable hands once every rotation or two. In PT, my VPIP is at 43% and PF Raise is at 18.24%. 10.24BB/100 hands. This is 4-6 tabling Party/Empire NL-50 6 max.

Wow just checking out some more PT stats. Through 55 hours my hourly win rate is $64/hr at 276 hands per/hr. This is with tilting away 1500-2000 over three days last week.

Since mid-May I've cashed out $9800 (of my original $100 deposit to Party) and have $1200 left in my empire bankroll. I've made over $6000 in the past two months. Why am I going to college again?
