Default Better play of flopped trips?

Could I have played this better? I felt pretty safe when I saw the turn, and MP2 waited a long time before calling my bet. I bet when I saw the Q thinking only 8J or JK could beat me on this board. He waited a long time again before reraising me, during which time I considered what he might hae that could beat me. I knew JK or 8J would beat me, but I convinced myself he had one or two pair. Looking back, I wonder if I should have pushed all in on the turn. I'm still very noobish when it comes to real money games, so go easy

At that level (.01/.02 NL), when you make a hand you have to overbet the pot somewhat, because people call so much with complete junk that might have have a slight chance of beating you. On the turn, bet 1$ instead of .35 cents, giving him horrible odds to call you. He'll probably still call, but he's basically comitted that point, and the odds are 92% in your favor. Those are good odds

    Default Thanks

Yeah, playing at this level seems a lot like playing play money, but unfortunately, this is where my bankroll allows me to play at the moment.

I'll try being more aggressive when I make a hand.

Is it even worth posting $.01/$.02 hand histories here?

there was nothing you could do except go all in on the flop, which would be stupid. he hit a flush draw on the turn and since he values gutshots so high then obviously he will call any amount of money with a flush draw. you had no chance

I have noticed what I believe to be an online tell: it doesn't happen very often, but I would say the great majority (75%) of the time when someone waits a long time and then raises, they have you beat. Absent any other information, I would have taken that as a warning.

I dunno why they do it. They're either purposely delaying, trying to signify weakness, or they're playing around with the slider bar, experimenting with different bet sizes, trying to find a good amount they think you'll call.

Take it for what it's worth, and see if it holds true at the limits you play it.

You're probably right. I've done it myself, for both of the reasons you specified. I'll keep an eye out for that.
