Of course you call. You have top 2 and you are getting really good pot odds.

and for Rippy, PT really can improve ones play. Why do you have to say that being analytical about poker cant improve your game?

It makes all the difference in the world if you know that your opponents VPIP is 10% or 50%. If a guy with VPIP of 10% raises UTG and I have AQ I will surely fold. No matter what the possible other action would be. I would perhaps even fold AK.

"screw all that '% of what your opponent is lilely raising with'...LMAO what a waste of time and IMO counter productive to playing instinctive poker the way it should be played. "
-I surely hope that you dont what I think you mean.. Reads are one of the most important concepts of NLHE aside with position. Even if they are based on numerical facts like VPIP.

I personally havent used PT enough but you can really help even your game Ripptyde I know that poker is totally situational but you have to build the basis before aiming higher. I have been playing for quite a while with some success and now I am reading Theory of Poker and I am finding lots of useful information and thoughts in the book.

There are always ways to improve your game.

Alright, consider this. If I know my opponent has a really bad/predictable set of hands they will play or raise with, then being able to exploit that is huge. If a 10%VP$IP/2%PFR player raises from MP, it's pretty safe to figure something like AK/AQs/QQ or better. This kind of information can save you hundreds of dollars even at the $100NL level.

You bitch and moan about campers. When I started using these tools, I thought I had pretty good reads. See the thing is I had good reads on the ACTIVE players. The campers I had run into now and then came out like cockroaches exposed to light when I started running tools to help with reads. If you KNOW someone is camping AA-22 (JJ and under for sets) and maybe AK/AQs on 8 tables you can really fuck up his christmas by shutting off his action.

There is some truth to this, but on the other hand don't be the sucker paying off the Aces, Kings and Sets Mr. 8 tabler is camping out for.

PokerTracker has made a lot of people a lot of money.

    You're still in debt, right?

I mentioned the VP$IP because that was my only read on him since I was playing 4 tables at once. If I don't put anything, everyone asks what my read was. What a high VP$IP could mean is that this guy could have ANY hand. Tighter players calling $1.50 preflop raises are easier to put on a hand. Looser players will call that bet with Ax or any two suited with one card > 10...or a real hand.

I called and lost to a straight that he hit with the river card. I had top two pair but with the straight draw on the board I and potential trips, I thought I should have folded. I was on semi-tilt after almost every showdown ended like this for the last couple days and wasn't sure if that made me call.
