Default Can't Think of A Witty Title

Here's a hand that I just lost which ruined 380 hands worth of work.

It's been the story of my game lately. I flop a set, and either no one stays in the hand, or else I lose a lot of coin to a better hand. In this case, I felt that the flush was upon me, however, given that I had a straight, and that my opponent is slightly unpredictable, I decided that I could not be sure that she had the flush. Of course, I was wrong (and what a flush, I might add), but I guess that I should have stood down earlier?

As I look back on it, my flop raise was weak, but I think that she would've been calling anything.

You could have saved nearly your whole stack here. A set is not good on a board that rolls out like this. All it takes is a J to beat you once the turn hits. Plus it completes a flush. And then the river? Sure you have a straight but it's all on the board. And an A of clubs destroys every hand.

A set is nice but there is a fair selection of hands that beat it. It doesn't matter how crazy villian may be, he only needs one club.

It's an unlucky turn of events, however, you can make this bad luck cost you less by folding when you should know you're beat. Don't convince yourself you have the best hand. Be OBJECTIVE in your analysis of the hand as it unfolds.

bet flop meaningfully (close to pot)!!! you want them to call "anything" with a strong but vulnerable hand. if the turn was the 9c or something good (not completing a draw), you'll win a big pot by building it early. you just have to get cautious when the draws hit. betting weak with a strong but vulnerable hand, and more when the draw hits is usually not good.

anyawy im not sure about betting or checking behind the turn, but probably check (not many times that worse hands call a bet now but usually better hands check/raise). i'd fold the river.

Here's an important rule for new players, Dont try to induce bluffs unless you know the person to be a guy who attacks weakness.

Since you're most likely playing players who are very passive, always playing their cards and never trying to put you to a test as they try to draw out on you, you should shy away from making plays that let them run at you cheaply.

Please fold the river, I know its hard but it's good for the soul to let go of a hand like this.

Jiggus, $1.50 at least on the flop, and 3-bet large over any raise.

Yes, I knew the response would be as this. I admit my idiocy. It's called frustration. 32,000 hands and I'm still at $10NL. I cannot win anymore. It is getting to me.

Normally, I do play negatively, always assuming I'm beat with boards like that, but I do know that I let my emotions get the best of me and wanted so badly to not lose to this certain player.

I fooked up. You know, I only saw red and I didn't even realise it was a royal flush until I saw it in PT.

Dunno why I posted that hand, really.

Thanks anyhow people. Still a good lesson in anger management.

I should have written 32,000 hands AT $10 NL. 60,000 hands in total more or less. Otherwise someone will continue pointing out that we "new" players always do this or that. I don't think I'm so new, just maybe so bad.

Lots of draws on that flop. Bet close to pot and hope for a call.

Thats a good sized bet on the turn but a horrible time to make it. Youre behind to alot of hands now. Take the free shot at filling up.

    That river call is disgusting.

What do you beat here? Bear in mind that you have to win close to 20% of the time for this call to be profitable.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

bigspenda73: But how much did you win?
