    Default Cool hand.

Normally I wouldn't check this on the river, but I didn't think this guy had the discipline to check behind with a big pair.

How does that work? If anything I can expect a check-raise to slow him down.

I think you played it well, you just got unlucky that an ace hit on the river. I'd have raised a bit more on the river.

It was fairly obvious by that point I'd been slow-playing, so I didn't think he would call much. Especially since the river ace made the likeliest hand K-K (he probably had kings or aces, and the river ace meant there were more unseen kings than aces), and it's difficult to call a check-raise on the river with K-K with an ace on board.

Some players might interpret a check-raise on the river after calling flop and turn bets with 3 to a flush on the board and as a missed flush, but I doubt it, especially not this guy.
