Couple of drunken $50 NL hands

I don't play all that much any more and have withdrawn most of my funds and really just dink around at low stakes with what's left in UB.
Last night I had a few drinks and decided to overstep my online-bankroll bounds a bit just to goof off at a level that's a little more interesting.
I don't bother to run PT much so I don't have any stats on this player but after a few rounds he seems reasonably solid and at least hasn't appeared as an overbetting bluffbot.

Hand 1:
I had been at the table for only 30 hands or so and hadn't had squat for cards and had only raised preflop once and really hadn't been involved much besides. The main reason for that was that there was a shortstacked maniac a few seats to my left and a big stacked bluffbot on my right - bluffbot had just recently busted maniac with a preflop allin of J5s (bluffbot) vs. 56o (maniac) ... so the table has finally settled down into a more standard play zone.

I decided to raise this hand due to my inactivity and gut feel which I usually ignore sober and would just toss this hand preflop. Normal approach would be to cbet if appropriate and give up after that if I don't improve. In this case I flop the second nuts (to J8 which I largely discount here) so obviously I'm very pleased.

The main question I have on this one is - would I be better off check-pushing the turn? I would put KQ in Villain's range, along with other pair+draw type hands. Since I'm not certain on the turn as to whether or not I'm ahead, but still have good odds to improve and get paid, and since Villain only minreraised, I opted to just call...but is that the best course of action given that river might not get me paid if I hit, and that a blank river might actually put me to a tough decision if I check and he pushes?
Or was turn bet simply not quite enough such that if I had bet more the decision to push over his reraise becomes easier?

Hand 2:
Different table obviously and 6-max that was starting to dwindle. I had probably only been in 2 orbits and hadn't gotten involved yet. No reads whatsoever on villain.
Here I just flat out figured he was pushing too hard and really just wanted me to fold - he may not even have a decent draw and I felt like I was ahead but couldn't really deal with a scary river and so I either fold the turn or put it all in there either reasonably ahead or way behind...is there a better line with this hand or is it played ok given my hand-in-a-vacuum read?

(1) Alright thx I figured as much and was looking for confirmation more than anything else...

Villain called the river here with 88 to double me up - definitely would have been better off betting more on the turn and pushing over his minreraise as the river would be scary enough for him in multiple ways...looking at the board it's hard to believe that he called for anything other than pot odds and the fact that I played this one like an overpair as much as Axs/AK.

(2) Definitely a questionable hand overall - if I hadn't been numb I would've sweated this one a lot more than I did...there was a subtlety in the way that he insta-led the flop and turn for pot that had me dubious that I was even beat here, and that he even could outdraw me reasonably that led to my play...this is definitely not one that I would put into the 'standard plays' basket - even drunk

Results were that he insta-folded so I was lucky in following my gut feel that his play was very suspcious and apparently a complete bluff as he would have almost certainly called with an over and flush draw or Qx and probably even with A6o or somesuch...phew!

Sorry for the probably waste of time posting - like I mentioned I don't play much so I don't have a lot of interesting stuff to post - so much is standard play as it is...

just put the rest in on the turn in hand 1

hand 2 is fun, he's mashing the pot button, that means he has the nuts/nothing and it's up to us to figure it out.
