Did i make the right call?

I didn't have to many reads on this villian before this hand, but figured the flop couldn't of helped him and it gave me 2 chances at the str8. I called both the flop and turn bets with the intention of folding the river if i didn't hit the str8. Even with the 4 on the river i was planning to fold when he bet only $1.80. I didn't think he would have bet this way to the river with a PP as with a flop that low he probally would have hit a set or had an overpair. I had a strong feeling that he had either Ax (possibly hitting the flop) or at worst a Q. I didn't think he had AQ as i think he would have bet more on the turn and rive with it. Long story short, i decided to call, putting him on Ax. Any comments on this play?

Firstly I would have folded this hand and not even been in the pot. However given we are I reckon he has AQ/KQ as this would be consistent with the 4x raise, or perhaps even an overpair like 9s or 10s. Also, you mention about calling to try and hit the straight. This is bad play because you are getting bad pot odds. If my maths is right on the turn river you are getting odds of 2.6:1 and 2.18:1 when the chances of hitting a 7 are more like 10:1. And the 6s could feasibly give him a flush. Even using implied pot odds calling those bets for the straight cannot be justified. I will be interested to see the result

He had a double belly buster. He could have hit a 3 or 7 to get the straight.

Well the 3 or a 7 would of giving me the straight, i'm not positive i had the odds to make the call on the turn, but the original plan was to fold if i didn't hit the str8. If he did have a hand, and i hit it, i figured i could stack him. Anyways, I'm mostly concerned with the river and his bet there. Reviewing the hand a few times, I think on paper, this should be a fold from me, but at the time I had a strong feeling he didn't have a pair

Would have folded this pre flop with 5 people folding to the raise before you.Playing the small suited connectors heads up really isn't the best spot.

That's only my opinion and mixing it up is certainly fine any time.

Now that your in the hand...opp raised pre flop, c bet the flop turn and river. I may put them on AK, 8-8 and up. I'm not a fan of the call on the flop. With no reads it's hard to put opp on A-x. You still only have 4-5 here with a gut shot. Not the right odds...

But if you are convinced opp is c-betting with AK and not an over pair I may raise his c-bet instead of call. Try to push him off and represent a pair (you did call opps original 4x pre flop bet)

After you hit the 4 on the turn, and still sticking to your conviction that opp doesn't have an over pair, I might raise. If opp pushes back I fold.

RIver seems like no help. At this point opps bet of $1.80 into a $8+ pot seems like just enough to get you to make a crying call. Maybe make the call for information. At a .5/.10 table though that's a lot of rounds.
