What were your reads on those people? Describing the reads you had on who makes it better for those of us replying to your posts.
If your read was that the initial min-raiser was way too loose, then I can see why you'd want to reraise it after him in order to get the pot heads up between his (likely) weak hand and your pair. That was quite a big reraise, but not bad.
Once the other guy makes it 8.50 to go, you have to assume you're way behind and fold. Remember, you only want to call a raise that is 10% of the smallest stack between you and the raiser. Since he only had $32, its not worth calling the big reraise, even with all that money already in the pot.
What would you do when you miss that set on the flop? You're only about 8:1 to hit it. Just fold after putting in 34bb's? Its going to be too easy to make mistakes here and lose your $36 stack. Even with a read, you need to put this hand down because at best you're a coinflip and most likely you're way behind.
You definitely want to see a flop with this hand, but you can't pay $8.50 to do so. Those calls are going to end up costing you a lot in the long run.
I like how you played it on the flop though, because he pretty much looks married to his hand, the pot is already big, and underfulls are not worth slowplaying anyways.
And besides, I want you to play straightforward ABC poker when you're building your roll off my stake You're gonna make loads of money by playing tight and hitting big hands without having to get into marginal situations and difficult reads-based hands. Build up those skills slowly while you work your way up. They will come in time.
And make damn sure you're playing within your bankroll. Its easy to get comfortable someplace you don't belong and then lose a few buyins and have a hard time making yourself move back down in time.
