When villian limp-calls from UTG+1 you have to put him on low-mid pockets. I make the same 3-bet on the flop but once you get raised all in you have to be able to drop it with your read, unless youve seen something out of line from the opponent in a previous hand.

raising Aq here is good imo. I wont raise AJ from the blinds unless i can buy the pot because AJ is more often exposed imo.
AQ i play a little differently, but limping isnt bad nor is raising.
Flop is great top two. If anyone suggests its wrong to go bust here then i flat out dont agree. Getting away form top two pair is tough, very tough.
But i do agree that you have to put opp on a pp here so when you make a reraise (make it bigger next time) and opp pushes you can get away from this. But, going broke is not a BAD play by any means imo.

Ty guys for responding to the post, part of me says i shoulda folded after the raise he put on me and the other part says i did the right play. My two biggest leaks in my game is not folding top pair after being raised and 2. when i preflop raise and dont hit the flop and make a continuation bet and the other guy just calls all the way down, i try to bluff him out of the hand and i lose alot from that but most of the time its when im having a bad day of cards and i get frusterated. Also these times when i raise preflop and make a continuation bet and dont hit, alot of times i just check on the turn if the other guy calls my continuation bet on the flop, is there something i can do to mix up my play so when i make a stab at the pot on the flop with nothing or a marginal hand and then check the turn he doesent know i have nothing. I would think that everytime i do this check on the turn he is gonna know im weak, what can i do about that if anything. Thanks again guys

yeah, there is something you can do
1)find a guy who is calling down your c-bets too much
2)Get in a hand with him and flop something strong (2 pair or better)
3)make a bet the same size as your c-bets
4)If he calls, check the turn, making it look like you were on a c-bet
5)Bet 2 times the pot on the river if no scare cards appear (flush possibility/obvious straight)
6)He thinks ha, i've caught him bluffing and calls you down
7)He will never call your c-bet with a marginal hand again and observant opponents will be much more reluctant to do so as well

in other words, your opponents need to know youre capable of having a really good hand rather than highly likely to have a crappy hand when they see a specific betting pattern on the flop and turn

hey guys, ty for reply i just have to ask you about the aq raise i did. The reason i did it was to try to knock out the 2 players after me so i could have position on the small blind or just to take the pot right there, was that a bad play to do? Also how do you put your players on a range of hands preflop and post flop. ty

I raise AQ preflop from anywhere but I play 10NL so people play alot of weaker Aces. It also defines the hands you are against if someone reraises you. If you limp and they raise they could have AJ or maybe even AT/KQ but you still have to fold really. If you raise and they reraise they dont have AJOn really passive tables where people are limping AK, QQ sorts of hands then ill limp. Ill also limp if i know people will play Ax like the nuts when it hits an A but wont call a preflop raise with it. I prefer to do this from position though (and even then its very rare) so i can control the pot size a little better.
I almost always raise AQ preflop but fold it to a reraise from anyone who isnt a maniac.
