I wouldn't mind getting in a position to push this flop if villian is capable of dumping an overpair, but since that didn't happen, I think you should slow down on the turn.
Flop play is good. On the turn I would take the free card though. There's a good chance your pair of 8's is still good, plus you stand a pretty good chance of getting paid off if you hit one of your outs. Pushing like you did does have tons of fold equity against a decent player, but if you get called, you are putting in 85% of your stack as a significant underdog, not a situation I like to put myself into.
Think about this. Assuming your opponent is observant of how you play (which probably is a big assumption), you need to be capable of playing sets, 2-pair, and other monster hands in the same manner.
