Default extract more or good play??

Q on river stopped me from extracting any chips here. he could have had 55 or 33 and hit his boat on the river.

I think you extracted as much about as you could. More than I would have but that is not necessarily a good thing. You just played it weak enough to bring along this opponent with his pair of 5s. As played I raise that river. With this weak betting you can’t seriously be afraid of a boat.

I bet that flop. He may call with his pair hoping for an A. More importantly, if he holds a K we can extract much more $ from him.

I guess there are two ways you can look at this. You have a hand and a flop that allows you to slow play.
I look at it another way. You have a hand that is very, very likely to win at showdown. Because of that, I am going to try and get a lot of chips in along the way.

This is a troubling thought process. Let him tell you he has something like that through betting. I don't blame you for just calling on the river, but I'm putting him on trip Q bad kicker, not a full house.

I have a friend that thinks this way. He'll have a very strong 3rd nuts on a live board and fear Quads or a better full house. He'll have KK on an Ace high board, and even after the opponent SCREAMS through their actions and patterns that they don't have the ace, he won't extract proper value from a loose passive player holding second pair Queens jack kicker for fear of the ace no one has. I know there's a better way to explain what I'm saying. I'm just not articulate at this exact moment.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

damn damn damn I think you guys are on to something. I gotta recycle their moves before i make my bet.. I have stopped doing it recently and my game became somewhat weak tight. BACK TO HOH2... thanks guys!!

It's hard to win the max with a strong NLHE hand and fairly deep money when you skip betting rounds.

I think that you probably could have extracted a little more preflop. Someone who is willing to call $. 75 will probably also call a $1 or $1.25. I loved the play after the flop and on the turn. With probably the best hand and a draw at the nuts, you are in good position for slow play. On the river I probably would have a raised. Good playing though! You opponent seemed a little fishy, calling a reraise with low pair and then betting again at the river. I would have put him on AQ and if was true you could have possibly broke him by raising at the river.

I couldn't possibly disagree more. We have a hand we want to play for stacks with and LOTS of money behind, bet it.

Actually after rethinking my post I agree with Fnord. You want to bet for 2 reasons. 1.) To find out where you stand in a hand and 2.) to extract as much money possible. If he reraises you could put him on trips or AK-AQ. If he calls you could also put him AK-AQ or a possibly lower PP, but trips would more than likely be out the window.
