First NL$200 Session

I'd fought my way back from donking off chips when this hand happened...First I tried to steal from CO. This guy had been playing back at me with garbage a few times, so when I hit top pair I certainly thought it was good. Then I tried to rep the A (which is why I called, figuring I'd take it away from him on the river). When I made the wheel, something told me he'd pay me off if I checked. I certainly didn't expect quite that big a hand.

I'm usually not stealing with hands this bad from the CO, but meh. Flop is good, turn second barrel is fine but he's showing serious strength raising the turn. You might have 6 outs vs. your average 200nl opponent here. I'd put him on a slowplayed set, maybe 53s/A9s/A4s and fold turn. Once you yahtzee the river I think you have to push. You're hand is well hidden and he's always calling with a set or 2 pair imo.

I don't either, but I had run a very nitty game (something like a 12/8 over the last 75 hands), so I thought I'd get respect.

I agree with pretty much all of this, barring reads on this particular opp. I genuinely felt that he could do this to put me to the test without cards (he had made a number of similar plays). Then again, my reads were flat out wrong here. I definitely considered this a pretty donktastic hand, concluding that it warranted ending my session.

Pre-flop is silly. Leading the turn is fine, once he raises it looks like a clear fold. Checking the river is consistent if you thought he was bluffing, but like zook pointed out two pair or a set looks more likely.

But as you said before he often playes back when you're stealing. You can't stand any pressure with 93o ... or would you like to play for stacks on the flop, even with this TP?

So I really won't play this garbage here. I think playing crap against tricky opponents is a good way to loose money. Play crap against ABC-Bots and play value against fancys.

if you guys have history I don't hate your line but you're looking at sets of 2 s and 4 s here a lot

How exactly did you plan to take it away from him on the river when you are OOP and he only has half a pot bet left?

Because I thought that his most likely hands were air or a weak A that lays down if convinced I have a stronger A. I was planning to put him in on the river until I hit, at which point I checked because I was positive he would be to a check and didn't expect him to have a hand he could call a bet with.

Half of my reason for posting this was to have it beaten out of my system, because it's obviously loosing play overall. The other half being "woohoo! I sucked out!"
