flushes priority

we play regularly.
a mixed flush has been laid flop Turn River, the ace is the highest card showing.
does the flush belong to all players or can it be improved by beating one of the laid cards?
this has caused much aggravation unfortunately.

if the flop, turn and river comes all diamonds A 4 6 8 10 ...the person with the highest diamond in their hand wins.

edit: what do you mean by mixed flush?

what i meant by mixed flush god knows, what i meant was NOT a running flush.

Not really true. Whoever has the highest diamond in their hand that is greater than the 4 wins. If no one has a diamond > 4 then the pot is split between all those who went to showdown.

Still not entirely true. If someone has KQd, they lose out to 79d.
