Hand 1 could be a semi-bluff but it's expensive to find out. I'd be scared of the minraiser as well as the guy who pushed. Hand 2, probably higher pocket pair and no odds to play for a set.

Please others give your opinion on this idea for hand 1.

Would it not have been a better idea for him to throw out a big raise preflop and punish the limpers?

I mean, there's very few flops that you can hit with AJo that will play well multiway, so if you hit top pair and you've weeded out all but one or two of the competition then you could have a lot more confidence in your TPTK.

Aj in a multiway pot doesnt play very well. Nor does it play well OOP.
Therefore talking a free card here from the binds means you can check raise imo any Ace high or jack high flops and know that only a better hand comes back at you (you wont expect a pair to be beat kicker wise but it may be beat by wto pair or a set making the hand easy enough to get away from). If i had AQ here then yes i would probably punish the limpers, but not AJ and especially not unsuited in consideration of how many may decide to play the pot. C-betting OOP also sucks. Therefore i dont mind taking a free flop rather than getting messy OOP.
Although, their are times when just punching in a fat raise will scare them all away

Pot is $10? and you may very well get heads up for $5. I think i like to see a 9 on the flop here to play. I dont think i like to fold preflop though...

No raise preflop with that many limpers. Unless you're willing to go all-in or bet such a large amount that no one else will call.

Postflop, I like betting out there...good job. When somebody comes over the top of you, and then somebody pushes over the top of that.....I'm folding in a heartbeat, or even quicker.


EDIT: Hand two, dump as well....find a better spot.

Easy fold in hand 1.
Played it perfectly. You played it like a TPTK and got squashed by someone and that is all you want to know when you enter a bet from early position.

AJo is a limp hand that could be and usually is punished. Assuming he doesn't have a read on the villians as being LAG or maniac, and he isn't playing LAG himself, almost any hand that calls a big raise will have him beat.

Ist hand fold no biggie well played. But the second hand I gotta disagree with you guys for the extra 5 dollars I might want to see the flop in this case. Pay the 5 see the flop you get youre set great if not fold then. I just hate folding pre flop with pp
