Folded AA for the first time in 88 hands

Since I've been keeping track, this is the first time I folded them. The guy was the second tightest player at this loose table besides myself. But I didn't have any post flop reads on him. Am I weak for laying them down here? How was my play? I figured I could have bet or reraised the turn, but there just seemed to be too many possibilities.

I would pot the flop and go from there.

This hand to me would be pretty dependant on how aggressive villian is PF.

I play the flop harder. He'll let you know if he's got it already.

Edit: fnord, did you edit your response? because my "i play the flop harder" wasn't copying you. I would have sworn I read you had something about losing more money.

Yeah, reads would make lots of things clear. If they're cronic under-betters and call a lot then I might check the flop and go from there.

Unfortunately I didn't have much of a read. Two other players on the table were raising anything and everything preflop and post flop. They occupied my attention at that table. I was playing 4.

I should have bet the full pot. Checking the turn might have shown way too much weakness too. I just had a gut feeling that I was behind, so I layed it down.

Well, as long as that gut feeling is a read, I say lay it down. You're certainly not going to draw out.

But if that gut feeling is the same one that says "play that 49o, you're going to hit it big!"...I don't know.

Yeah I think a $5 bet is obviously the right play here after the flop, $2 is much too weak. If he raises you there I think a fold is the right call, although a lot of idiots get crazy when they're four-flushed in $25NL. Too risky though if you ask me.

...that's what we have a bankroll for. I'm starting to come around to just gambling it up but maybe I'm getting lucky and/or am good about picking spots. In any case, you really would like to get it in on a safe turn here, however 3 way to the flop there is too good of a chance your opponents really hate this flop too. Hence, as second to act I'm putting down 1/2, 3/4 or often just full pot depending on the feel I have for the table.

I don't give much credit to flopped flushes... so I would probably pot the flop and 1/2 pot the turn (at least).

That being said; I have folded AA a couple of times myself in situations where I didn't feel comfortable... it IS only a pair, so if your gut said run, nothing wrong with folding...
