A couple of hands earlier I made a Cbet of $3 at a $4 pot and after getting called and then checked raised by the other two players laid it down...

Same hand, same bet preflop and...

(Villain's call of my check-raise was almost an auto call...)

Flop: ($5) 7, T, 2 (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, CO bets $3.75, Hero raises to $9.5, BB folds, CO calls $5.75.

Turn: ($24) 6 (2 players)
Hero bets $4.99, CO raises to $13.49, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $42.48

No need to get fancy at this level. Just wait till you make a hand and pork these guys. Either:

1) Raise more preflop, bet the flop and check fold if you get called. or

2) Just complete and take a flop. Check fold if you miss.

Your flop line is pretty scary to a thinking player but the turn is horrible - if you want to continue to bluff at this, you need to push. I would have just given up at that point. There's no need to play AK this hard against a bunch of 25nl muppets

checkraising the flop in general gets more money into the pot faster which is the exact opposite of what you want with a weak hand.

I never just complete and take a flop with AK, especially if there are more then 2 people in the pot...

My standard play is to make the Cbet, but as mentioned I just had to lay that down when I did it so I was tryin to rep AA and up with the check/raise...

I am probably too weak, but in the blinds I complete with AK and hope for a monster flop. To push someone out of a hand at NL25 you need to raise waaaaay too much preflop, so the pot gets out of control pretty quick, and that when you are OOP. No thanks.

If you really want to bluff, then you need a much much stronger turn bet and try to represent a monster (KK, AA, 10-10)

Also, save the pre-flop raise / check-raise flop strategy for when you flop a real monster (set, straight, nut flush, etc etc) because 25NL players don't see that coming (they instead see weakness and bet to win!) while the sharks at higher stakes will smell that coming (most, but plenty still fall for it)

This is a pretty terrible play in Limit too.

...and raise bigger pre-flop. You wouldn't mind taking down the money already on the table.

Yeah, I make it $2-2.50 or just limp. If I check that flop first to act, then I am folding to a substantial bet. Betting out is a much better line than CR'ing. But once he calls your flop CR, it's check/fold time. Turn is attrocious. You are betting $5 into about a $25 pot. What do you expect him to do? Fold?

having said that, I knew this guy was FOS bc I saw him do the same thing and bet almost the same thing when he was in position and everyone else auto checked...

Thats the hand I was thinking he had... I don't mind the villian's line - he's betting a strong draw when checked to in a pot with some money in it..

and I have a major problem with the one line you said "He bet almost the same thing when he was in position and everyone else auto-checked"... then if thats your read, you need to LEAD OUT on the flop because otherwise, you have absolutely no idea what his hand is. At least if you bet and he calls, you can get a decent idea of what you are up against (draw? A-10? slow played set? Pocket pair).. but your check raise of a man who bets every time its checked to does nothing... and I've seen people do the exact thing (attempt to bluff, call their re-raise and then hit a small pair on the turn and not fold)
