Default How do you play this?

What is your play on the turn and river here? This player is sort of a fish who overvalues and overplays hands.

If you said yourself that he overvalues hands, then he's probably got AK or K with a good kicker, thinking he's tired of your LAG ass pushing him around.

Kind of a fun choice of whether to raise or call here.

I like the line of raising here, since he obviously likes his hand: not too big of a raise; a minimum one will do. Then bet about 4/5's the pot on the river.

I decided to only call, then check-call the river, which probably wasn't' the best play. I wanted to limit my losses if he had 3-3 or a 7 with a better kicker (he was entirely capable of calling my flop bet with a hand like A-7), and encourage him to overvalue his hand if he only had top pair or something like that.

Maybe I should've chosen a different line since I knew this guy overvalued hands a lot. Against a better player the line I chose may be best, I think.

    Thoughts?

Just A-K. I checked to him on the river and he bet $100, and I just called, for the reasons I mentioned. Do you think raising is called for? My read on this player wasn't too specific, and most players wouldn't call a river check-raise with just top pair.

Maybe I should've just lead into him on the river for about $150 or so.

I would of called then check raised, he could have a boat but hes playing it more like kx.

It's very read specific. Against most players, I think the check/call is the absolute right play, but with everything you mentioned with him, I think a check-raise is killer because there is no way at all he will put you on the 7... and if he's betting 100 bucks with TPTK, a check-raise nicely pot commits him when he's really confident about being ahead.

But most players its a check/call... but if you have that type of read, a check-raise = $$$
