    Default How to fold Kings?

Sorry for not properly formatting the hand. This was a live action hand at $1-$2 NL table. I was in BB with KK. Dealer is very tight and semi-passive player. Stacks of dealer and me were almost equal with about $220 each.

    Preflop:
UTG calls, MP2 calls, Dealer raises to $10, SB folds, BB reraises to $30, UTG folds, MP2 folds.

    Flop:
9 6 3 (with a flush draw) (dont remember all the suits well)
BB bets $60, Dealer raises to $120.

I dont think he has 66 or 33. 99 is a very likely possibility. But, the thought that I got stuck on was, the dealer was a player who would make such moves with JJ or QQ. He was also not very comfortable making the raise. The read I got was he was scared of me calling him. So, I ask him if he got trip 9's. He shrugs. He definitely doesnot have them.

Should I call the raise? Its very tough to laydown KK for that flop.

240 in the pot and you have 130 that you haven't put in yet. I tend toward "push and hope." With a solid read you could get away from this one maybe, but you seem to have mixed feelings... I'd just be careful that you're not talking yourself into the wrong decision. At first you say he's very tight, kinda passive, but now he's raising you like he has a monster... does that sound like an overpair? Or maybe a semi-bluff with a draw? You'd have to make up your own mind.

Let's put it this way: readless, I get all the chips in. With a read, it would depend strongly on the read. Against a typical tight/passive type I lay it down. You made some qualifications on that characterization, so it's up to you how you really think he plays.

That's a funny comment. Half says you know exactly what he has, and the other half says you gladly fork over your money to it...

    About my ambiguity,

I dont know what he exactly has...but I know what exactly he doesnot have. He does not have 99.

Now, he could have KK, QQ, JJ or AA. Am I beat is the question. Because, with each of these hands, it is very likely that he would make the same move.

if you really dont think he has 99 then push...

he would reraise you with AA or KK wouldnt he? or is he that passive?

Never read any stickies or announcements
I like a push against most opponents here.

I think you have little choice but to get it all in.
Whats a miniraise on that flop after being called preflop.
Its an easy push to me, if he setted then you didnt reraise enough OOP preflop. If its aces its a nice trap pay him for a good play

Push. Give the stack sizes and no solid read I don't see how you're getting away from KK here. I mean, what kind of flop were you hoping for when you reraised him?

Also, you said you thought his range was AA, KK, QQ, JJ. You're only losing to one of these hands, and KK is unlikely, so I don't understand why you think this is a tough decision. I'm guessing you ran into AA.

It's a standard trap play to smooth call a raise or reraise with AA/KK preflop. Putting in a third bet with AA will basically tell hero what hand he has and hero might be able to get off his KK.

aces would reraise preflop. unless this guy is extremely passive

    I dont agree
Im aggresive and i trap here putting you on a big pair.
If i think i can get you to like the flop a couple of times out of ten then im taking stacks.
So no, a trap with AA is great play here and imo a good read of opps hand

thats true, now that i think about it its very possible he has aces or 99's, but yeah i think you should still push.

I just looked at thsi again.
Was 5bbs dealers standard preflop raise? Even considering position it looks more like a protection bet than anything.
WHile he could have 99 i think TT/JJ is a possibility here more so than AA.
I'd like to know what he showed, but i think KK is good here.

    Sorry for not replying earlier...

The 5BB raise was standard for the table. The reason that I sound worried about the hand is that I MUCKED MY KINGS. Villian said he had Aces but I am not totally convinced. And it has been bugging me. And now I regret my fold.
