The first hand is a no-brainer.

The second hand is a loose call pre-flop unless you are sure the
opp. is a maniac. You picked up a great draw there and bet it
right out. That's the right play. 20% of the time you take the
pot right there.. and another 50% you pick up a huge pot with
the draw.
