How should I have played this?
Playing in a bigger home game (17 people at 2 tables). I was dealt 4-4 UTG. I call the BB. There are a total of 4 players. The flop comes 10-2-4, all diamonds. I bet and get three callers. I figured one of those callers had a low flush. The turn was a rag. I checked and so did everyone else. The river card was another 10, giving me 4s full of 10s. I bet, the guy to my left raises big (10xBB). 1 player calls, One folds, and now it is to me. I thought about re-rasing but decided not to, so I just called. The raiser turns over 10-2 ,10s full of 2s. I dont think there was a way to win that pot unless I did it pre-flop but I don't like to raise in that position with that low of cards. Right before I called the river bet, I thought he might have had a 10-2, 10-4 or 10-whatever the other board card was, but I could not fold my Full house
How would you guys had played that? Would you have folded on the re-raise? Bet big on the flop (he had 2 pair so I dont think it would have mattered)?
It is situations like this why I dont like pocket pairs. I would much rather play a 7-8 than 4-4
