I just can't fold a set.

Results 1 to 10 of 10

    Default I just can't fold a set.

And now after over 200,000 hands played, pocket 2's is now a losing hand for me.

Pretty obvious river fold, for everyone except me.

    Villian is 17/9.

I dont find that an obvious fold.
I have a hard time putting villain on QQ KK without a Preflop reraise.
The flush only manifests itself on the river and if chased it, well NH.

I would have a hard time laying that down honestly.
Actually, I probably would have pushed the turn... would have been same result but I digress.

I agree, it's really tough to fold here. Very easy for villian to have a hand like KQ or AcQc and play it the exact same way. In order to justify folding you have to put him on 99/KK/TcJc. Figure KK would reraise preflop as he'd be oop the whole time. 99 and TcJc are possible, but on the whole I think it's a call. I'd expect a guy like that to reraise with QQ, unless he's willing to pay you off all the time on an all under flop.

The river is a tougher call because you figure 2 pair would check, and his bet is meant to be called.

But I can't fold sets either.

I agree with yorib, I think you see KQ here too often to fold. This is the exact line someone would take with KQ I'd imagine.

if your post flop game is so predictable and tight that you feel that not folding a set on the river with 3 to 1 odds is a blunder then open up your game!

Ok let me play devils advocate:

on the river when all the money goes in after opp took a really scary line, you are beating precisly one hand that *might* play that way, KQ. You beat nothing else...

Also note, you are playing in one of the webs nittiest games. What do you think he's pot building with on the turn? KQ would probably call here figuring you are drawing pretty slim and will call a fairly large value bet on the river etc.
Every other hand that would play this way has you beaten.

If renton posted this on 2+2 he'd get flamed for being a nit, but when you are beating only one hand opp might play this way, which arguably he wouldnt play this way anyway, then its a pretty easy turn fold IMO.

We could talk about preflop as well but thats a totally different situation.

I don't disagree with you... but if a 1/2 game is so tough that you need to make these kinds of folds to survive it's time to find a new game or go and play live

it certainly isnt, thats true, there are just spots in that game where you have to know no matter how strong your hand you are spewing.
