Sounds like a re-raise or fold situation. Marginal value either way, really have to think about what that player has been doing up to this point.

He's got you beat on the flop with AA, KK, QQ, TT or any 8. So it comes down to if you think he has one of those hands. If you don't think he's got it go all-in to kill his draw, otherwise fold. Calling doesn't seem like an option since it would commit enough of your stack that folding is a tough play after this point.

Sounds like you had him read close enough to right. However, you were only around a 60-70% favorite after the flop.

This is also why I'm not a big fan of raising JJ out of position. It just doesn't have the domination power of QQ KK and AA. From early position I'll often limp in with it looking for a set.
