Default my QQ goes down to a set of Jacks - what should I have done?

    Hi!

This is the first hand history I've posted, so I hope I format everything properly. I read some of the other QQ topics, too.

This tournament was a .10 cent buy-in, so small stakes, with blinds going up every five minutes. I had just been moved to this table three or four hands earlier, so no good reads. On my first hand at this table, I managed to steal the blinds with a big bet. I'd didn't show my hole cards after this steal, so no reason for the table to think I'm particularly loose.

Blinds were at 300/600. I had the second biggest stack on the table. I'd appreciate any criticism or suggestions on where I went wrong.

I like the look of this, especially since I'm in late position. No question I will raise, and I typically raise between 3xBB and 4xBB.

    AJSuited73: folds
    AL-TMR: calls 600
    wash: folds
    Capt. Stone is connected
    dan999: folds
    notoriousuli: raises 1200 to 1800
    ALRIC17: folds
marnin: calls 1500 This actually concerns me more than Barnew1's subsequent call, since it pretty much pot commits him.
    Barnew1: calls 1200
    AL-TMR: calls 1200

    *** FLOP *** [J 5 J]
marnin: bets 580 and is all-in
    Barnew1: raises 580 to 1160
    AL-TMR: folds
notoriousuli: calls 1160 I'm thinking I may be making a mistake here by not raising, not that I would have pushed him off a set . . .

    *** TURN *** [J 5 J] [4]
    Barnew1: bets 2631 and is all-in
notoriousuli: calls 2631 This was my chance to get out. I didn't take it. Was Barnew1's all-in an obvious signal he had a set?

    *** RIVER *** [J 5 J 4] [6]

    *** SHOW DOWN ***
    Barnew1: shows [K J] (three of a kind, Jacks)

    Wrong forum.

The min raise on the flop woud scare me. I would also bet more preflop. 4x since there was a limper.

And since it was a 10cent buyin, you could be facing any level of moron. Wouldn't surprise me to see a soooted J2 flipped over.

working myself up to FTR fullhouse status while not giving 1 solid piece of advice
you coulda gone all in preflop, but you probably woulda been called by KJ off anyway - You raised pretty big and got 3 callers anyway - Im guessing neither of them were folding there - sucks that they called with KJ, but that is what low stakes tourney players do - I would fold the flop there - 4 players in and a all in followed by a raise (totally not deceptive) was telling you what you needed to know - QQ is a great hand, but when you've got a few players against you and a scary flop, believe them - fold the flop and work with your last 6k+ in chips - your still OKAY chip wise -

Thanks for the advice. I guess the lesson is that I should think about folding QQ against a sufficiently scary flop, especially if someone does something sneaky like min raise on the flop when I've already come in for a larger pre-flop raise?

Sorry about posting in the wrong forum. Should this have been in the MTT forum?

Another answer to "what you should have done" with this post besides post it in the right forum is to not put the result of the hand in THE TITLE OF YOUR POST or in the post itself (generally).

You'll get more unbiased advice and let people try to muddle through it just as you would have during the hand. Results can skew opinion. That's all!

    Welcome to FTR!
