Default Newby NLHE Tourny Question - Did I make the right move

Did I play this one wrong or do I just chalk it up to bad luck? Should have I folded on the re-raise from cheezhead and at least stayed in the game? This hand was 3h 20m into the tourny so I'm questioning my judgement after playing for that long.

Thanks in advance for your comments,

    Baby_Face007

What were you going for there?

That late in tourneys the big stacks are basically calling stations just about.

He had top pair you had a flush draw.

If a raise and a re-raise then it comes to you pointless to call on a flush draw.

    Easy fold in my opinion.

Corey - I had hm pegged at top pair, but with 12 OUTs and 45% chance of hitting the flush or pair of Kings I thought it was a good chance to take down the stack leader at the table. Hind sight being 20/20 I guess it was too aggressive.

I understand what you mean but look at it this way...

If I hit I double up if I lose I am out. You took a chance and lost. He was the aggressor actually re-raising with top pair of minimal stacks and you raised over the top.

I just didnt think that hand was worth all your chips.

    BTW Welcome to FTR!

Alright, I couldn't wade through the hand history becuase it was scary and confusing but here's what it comes down to:

    Did you need chips?
No? Then fold and go somewhere with it.
Yes? Then gamble and get yourself some chips.

Times when I'll need chips: We're ITM or on the bubble. I'm always willing to take my shot at putting together a huge stack to win the whole thing.
    I'm shortstacked

Times when I don't need chips: A good ways away from the final table and i've got enough chips to find a spot where I'm the favorite to put it all in.

    Default Decent Gamble, Tuff Beat

I can’t fault you for doing so!
If you had HIT it you would have looked like a GENIUS!
After seeing what cheezhead was holding, I wish like hell you did hit it!

I don’t understand cheezhead’s betting here except to suspect this was a Free Entry or Low Entry Tourney?

I can’t fault you for calling the Blind Pre-Flop, even though I am not a fan of K8 suited.
K9 and below generally gets me into trouble, so I have a tendency not to play these on a full table. But, you’re in Late position and it is suited and just the Blind CALL, I’d be there too!
After the flop, you got what you wanted almost.
I think I would have called the 24K Bet, if cheezhead didn’t raise I’d be considering a raise at this spot.
    I’m comfortable with calling.
Right now I am worried about the Ace.
When POKERMAN2420 raises, I’m going ok that’s cool, I’m glad he did it!
    Let’s see the reaction.

When cheezhead made a reraise of that size and he was the first reraise after the flop, I’m thinking trips. I can’t imagine betting like that with two pair.
Then I am going, CHIT, I’m first to act!
    Good bet you PIG!
79d? AQd! No no, AJd! No AT d!
    I certainly don’t have him on J9o!
Man these outs are smacking me in the face! SHUT UP!
Dang the guy behind me reraised too!
    The guy behind him called.
Thank GAWD this aint on TV!
Everybody limped pre-flop, and I don’t have the Ace.
    Man look at these outs!
Hmmm, 3 and half hours playing, am I in the money yet?
Is it at or above my Entry fee?

Now I hope, but can not guarantee that I would do the following:
Somebody limped, and I think it is the guy behind me.
He has got the Ace of diamonds.
The guy after him, two pair, and dick head here has trips.
I knew I shouldn’t have got in here with K8.
    F_CK I’m a wimp!
    Good Bet dick!
    I hope the others call.
    FOLD

I certainly can’t fault you for calling here.
    Those outs are too tempting.
Or at least I follow your line of reasoning for proceeding.
What did it for me was the guy behind me raised and the next guy called.
All after a limp in flop.
A good situation in my opinion for a A2 diamonds.
And it felt to me that’s what POKERMAN2420 had.
Somebody had trips in my opinion.
I truly thought cheezhead had trips, not diamonds.
And unfortunately for you Baby_Face, if I was a remaining player, I’m gonna make special note he played a J9o like that!
Alright, you wanna play like that?
    Sure enough!
And as a remaining player I am gonna make a special thank you to you before you leave for pointing that out to me.

I swear Gorilla that's what I was thinking going through that hand.
<I read along these things as though I am playing them>
I was tellin myself, you best have trips bettin like that!
    Remote chance two pair.

What do you think rilla, was that skill he just displayed?
Forcin the Table AI after reraise 3XBlind?
    One person already called it.
    & he holding a J9o.

3 more have a crack at it, two of 'em already in 3XBlind and you are not expecting a call from anybody?
He made that bet to steal the pot?
That was one hell of a read, holding J9o!
I say he got very frickin lucky & should have lost that hand!

PLZ Baby_Face007 tell me this was a Free or Low Entry Tourney!
    Help me ease my mind.
POKERMAN2420 throws in an extra 1200 on top of 2400 and didn’t call?!
    WTF Man!
We got to question that don’t we?
You people like throwin chips in the pot or what!
It’s like watchin the cast from The O.C. playin on the Bravo Network!
    WTF MAN!

before anybody asks me, I don’t watch either of those dumb a$$ shows!
Hell I avoid the Bravo channel altogether!
I’m never up to watchin dudes dress each other, marrying each other, and worse, kissin each other!
    Forget it!
    Aint goin there!
I’d rather watch an ALL girl final table on ESPN!
    Giggle.
I leave that last statement for you to ponder on your own!

TDM100 - Wow thanks for the great replies all, but especially TDM. You are correct in your assumption it was a Freeroll. I hadn't even considered POKERMAN until you mentioned it. He could have easily been holding Ax-d. (And really dashed my dreams had he stayed in and hit the nut)

I guess the biggest thing I've taken from this hand is this wasn't a bad hand to go all in on, but is sure wasn't a great or right hand to GAI on either. Even though I haven't been playing online poker for long I think I was a better player than Cheezhead and I should have counted more on that discipline and skill and waited for the cards that didn't require so much luck to win the hand. Chalk it up to experience!!

    Thanks again all.
