Default Overpair turns into set, but...

    $100 NL

Both opponents are new to me and I don't have a good handle on them yet.

Hand #368816033 at table: Table TH 790
    Started: Sun Jul 16 20:51:51 2006

HJ is at seat 1 with 57.75
CO is at seat 2 with 152.22
Button is at seat 3 with 98.00
SB is at seat 5 with 73.16
BB is at seat 6 with 98.00
UTG is at seat 7 with 95.13
Hero is at seat 8 with 146.05
    MP1 is at seat 9 with 14.44
    MP2 is at seat 10 with 148.80

BB posts the large blind 1.00
SB posts the small blind 0.50

Hero is UTG+1 with :Qs: :Qc:

    Pre-flop:

    UTG: Fold
    Hero: Raise 4.00
    MP1: Fold
    MP2: Fold
    HJ: Call 4.00
    CO: Fold
    Button: Fold
    SB: Call 4.00
    BB: Fold

Flop Board: :Js: (Pot = $12)

Looking good here, overpair with gutshot.

    SB: Bet 5.00
    Hero: Raise 15.00
    HJ: Call 15.00
    SB: Call 15.00

    Two callers, hmmm.

    Turn :Qh: (Pot = $57)

Ouch, I improved a lot but I am not sure I improved my strength reletive to my opponents.

    SB: Check
    Hero: ?

Your move? Check call mode or push/bet with 10 outs to a boat or better?
    Stakes: Playing $0.10/$0.25 NL

HJ could easily ATd, it's hard to put him on one hand that HJ has that doesn't have you beat at this point besides two diamonds (plausible). So i'd check/call the turn.

dont bet if you cant stand being raised off your hand, unless youll get donk-raised and have odds to boat up (i.e miniraised)

I suck at big pots where I was best but now I probably am not.

    Hero: Bet 32.00
    HJ: All in
    SB: Fold
    Hero: Call 38.75

    River

    Showdown:

Hero shows: Qs, Qc (three of a kind, Queens)
HJ shows: 10d, Kh (straight to the King)

    Mainpot:
HJ wins the pot of 132.50 with straight to the King
    Stakes: Playing $0.10/$0.25 NL

It went allin on the turn.

I guess be thankful he didn't have a full stack.

I would like to check this turn most of the time though... the only problem I see with that though is HJ has 1/3 of his stack in by the turn... if he bets anything are you folding? Once the river hits and we don't improve are we folding to the ~$20 he has left in a ~$90 pot.. (assuming he bets the turn).

If we check and he shoves the turn are we folding?

Those bets happened on the turn so I still had 10 outs to beat him. Yeah, I probably should have let it go on the turn.
If I check the turn and HJ pushes, I fold I guess. Sucks to be outdrawn after putting in so much though.

Should have opted to get to those outs cheaply and check behind though because you know he has a ten and you know there is no way you can get him to fold now.

    himself fucker.
betting will only scare away worse hands and build a pot for better hands. But checking can induce bluffs and I am just simply not folding unless they guy gives an insane price and practically tables the T
