    Default Overplaying big hand?>>.

Last session was very profitable but I remember this hand distinctly that I probably should have altered my play.

$1-$3 NLHE Max buy in of $500

    Button Hero $450
    SB Villian 1 $500
Cutoff Villian 2 $650 (steaming... had $1500 an hour before)

    Hero is dealt As8s
Preflop $$6 straddle from UTG. UTG +2 calls, Cutoff calls, Hero calls, SB calls, BB calls, UTG checks option. Total pot $36.

    Flop
    6s 2s Qs

Obviously great flop for me. SB bets $20, BB, UTG, UTG +2 Fold. Cutoff raises to $55. Im thinking here that he has a set, 2 pair, K FD, or flush. All very strong hands, I raise to $140 total (85 raise) and all fold. Where did I mess this up?

I assume based on the stakes and the description of the hand, that this was a live game. Maybe, where you went wrong was not in your betting.

Maybe you have some kind of physical tell. Maybe your boner tilted the table after you flopped the nuts, or something like that.

Maybe you did nothing wrong and he tried to steal a pot cheaply with air.

Where was this? The only place I've ever been that runs a 1/3 game is Ceasar's Palace in Vegas. It's my observation that in big casinos like that, alot of people are playing "for fun". In other words, when they put the money on the table, they already consider it gone. I play these live games WAY differently than I do online. I will make some real tight/nitty folds. I will nut hunt and I will check down hands where I could realistically make a value bet.

My strategy is not to win a pot. i want to win someone's stack. As I said, alot of these players already consider the money spent, so I'm happy to take it. I try to build the pot as much as possible, if I think he will call. I think you might have raised just a bit too much, even though mathematically, it doesn't look like much. When you actually put out $140 in a live game (i assume in all $5 chips), it LOOKS alot bigger.

You probably should have re-raised to $100 and then try to build the pot from there. If he folds to that bet, then you've already made all the money you're gonna make. If another spade comes and he was on the K-high draw, he'll get it in for you. If he has two pair, or a set he will probably check-call the rest of the way. If the board pairs, you shoudl probably just fold.

Its a casino in Southern Indiana. Hollywood in Lawrenceburg. They have 2 or 3 $1-$2 games but they are really nitty. The $1-$3 game is very loose with common UTG straddles and $18 to $25 dollar open raises. Max starting stack of $500 makes for a deeper game that gets good.
As for the hand, I figure if he has 2 pair, set, or weaker flush he is at least calling here. I do play overly aggressive post-flop which usually looks weak when I have monsters. I agree with the 100 bet. Good advice.
