there is no flush or straight draw on the board and you hit your set on the turn...safe to say you have a winner here.

My only critique is that you overbet the turn but fortunately Mister Ace fell in love with his hand

    very well played hand
Umm - Ripp I think you read the hand history wrong or sumtin. There wasn't a flush draw on board but there was a str8 draw. And the opp hit it on the turn with his 78. I think the question was whether it was the right play to call with a set on that turn or was there any way to find a fold when the only hand that beat you was 78 or a higher set.

There was, the turn completed it (and someone held it, but that's secondary), and that's why I'd say raise less on the turn. If re-raised, consider you have 10 outs to a boat (and you'll likely stack them on the river) and go from there. If called, you're probably good for a modest river bet - unless the board pairs, then it's time to drop el hammador.

I saw 78 right away as I was reading, but congrats for hitting the boat and taking the pot.

It's a borderline call. If the Ace wasn't there then it would be an easier fold, but knowing somebody could have A5 and get married to it makes you think. Usually when we raise and get reraised, we look to fold unless we have the nuts.

    Thanks for the replies.

It was nice to win this size of pot at these stakes but after I had won I had to think for awhile if it was the right call or not. I didn't want to delude myself into thinking it was a great play if I had just plain gotten lucky.
