    I think he was going all in either way, but it was nice of you to give a free card.
    To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

    The pot is what.. $10 on the turn if my math is correct? You have trips, 2 hearts on the board. Villain has $4.30 left. Why check behind? Put him all-in there..

    and still, I don't get the limping off the button, then calling a raise...

    I bet 3/4 his stack on the turn, hope he goes all in. If not I put him all in on the river anyway. No free card and I think its less likely to push him out.

    Just call on the flop.
