Set hands with position played badly $25NL

Hand 1: Villain is 70/30 over 20 hands, so he could have anything. I'm happy with the call on the flop, however the turn and river bets make it look like a draw. I checked because I wasn't sure what to do if he raised. I was crying when I just called the river though. Kick my passive a*se and tell me what to do.

hand 1 - hero raises at some point, ideally on the flop or at least the turn. If he is on a draw, you don't really find out by calling PLUS you let him dictate his own price for his cards.

hand 2 - I think you can raise a little more on the flop. Pot has $2.15 when it comes to you and you only pop it $1.50 more. First caller is getting better than 2:1 to call there.

I'd play both hands way more aggressively, i bet you're winning both times by far.

Hand 1: You have to reraise somewhere. You have a great hand, but there are so many scare cards. If you just call the flop (which is a little passive) you should significinatly reraise the turn. (And bet half pot on the river if he's still there).

Hand 2: I don't have a problem with how it was played. I see no reason to bet the river. As if you bet and someone pushes you almost have to fold. It sure seems like someone was chasing a flush and hit it and was looking to c/r you. The only other hands would be something like 2 pair or a 4. If there had been limited bluffing at the table, then you can put in a 1/3-1/2 pot "value bet" and comfortably fold to a push. Well, you've practically comitted to a push if you bet that though ... hmm ....

1. I re-raise pre-flop against someone playing this laggy. And then I definitely raise every street post-flop. As played pre-flop, I probably raise to $3.50 or $4 on the flop. You should be thinking about how you can possibly get him to commit his stack here... obviously it will require raising at some point.

2. This is played better. You might be able to raise a teensy bit more on this flop, and I would bet the turn for $6 or $7. But I'm fine with checking behind on the river when the third club comes.

hand 2 seems ok. i would make the flop bet a bit higher, atleast $3. i think a 1/3 bet on the river is needed, and if one of them comes over the top you can fold.

hand 1 you have to come over the top of those weak ass bets. put it up to $4 on the turn, and if he continues, put a healthy bet out on the river also

I was actually hospitalised with self inflicted wounds after I posted it. It's my first day at $25NL after moving back to $10 for a while, and I was a bit overly protective of my stack. Hopefully it won't happen again soon. So I should be raising 3x - 4x at each street - is gut.

With hand 2 the consensus seems to be definitely putting more money in at the flop and turn, and maybe value betting the river. With 2 others in the hand I'm quite happy checking behind.

I'm pretty sure you know you should be raising here man.. and against a 70/30 he would have called you down the entire way too. You should have doubled up this hand.

Hand 2 - Probably raise flop a bit more, more on the turn... I also check behind the river... if someone doesn't have the flush there then I dunno wtf they could have.
