Default Sets are costing me so much money, it's unreal hehe

I'm really trying not to slowplay sets... honest... but after countless hands of crap like this resulting, it's getting hard

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (7 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    Button ($3.50)
    SB ($12.85)
    BB ($4.10)
    Hero ($19.10)
    MP1 ($9.45)
    MP2 ($12.40)
    CO ($8.10)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 8, 8.
Hero calls $0.10, 3 folds, Button raises to $0.5, SB calls $0.45, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.40.

    Flop: ($1.60) 7, 8, 6 (3 players)
SB bets $11.7, Hero calls $11.70, Button folds.

    Turn: ($25) T (2 players)
    SB bets $0.65 (All-In), Hero calls $0.65.

    River: ($26.30) 3 (2 players, 1 all-in)

    Final Pot: $26.30

    Results in white below:
SB has 9d 9h (straight, ten high).
Hero has 8s 8h (three of a kind, eights).
    Outcome: SB wins $26.30.

This looked like an obvious fold for me, and I thought about it long and hard, and my conclusion was, if he really hit a straight or flush, would he bet this much? Plus FTR tells me not to throw away sets to donk bets like this, so I made the call. What would you have done?

I would have raised to get his last $0.65 into the pot and then be happy I got my money in with the best of it.

    Board: 7c 8c 6c
    Dead:

    equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
    Hand 1: 68.0303 % 65.05% 02.98% { 8h8s }
    Hand 2: 31.9697 % 28.99% 02.98% { 9d9h }

    What else do you want?

yep...it would be extremely weak-tight to fold there- most hands that bet like that are not the nuts or close, and you are between 5:4 (OESFD) and 2+:1 (99 or overpair + flush draw or something like Ac Kd) to win.

don't be results-oriented. think in terms of EV...in that sense you made something on this hand (if you have enough of a bankroll to play in these spots enough times, around twice you will win the pot, once you lose it, meaning you made a substantially +EV play here).

Forget the $0.65. You got it in there with the best of it so that particular position will make you money over time.

Shit happens, afraid this is just a bad beat.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

bigspenda73: But how much did you win?

Let's say he bet $2 into the $1.60 pot (instead of the probably accidental 11.70 into a $1.60 pot) - in this situation just about everyone here (at this level) is reraising and probably all the money will end up in on the flop and either you suck out or get it in there as a huge favorite. GG.

ya this goes in the bad beat forum. you played fine - just get all the money in on the flop cuz the .65 business just annoys me

You could have cut your losses and folded for that last 65 cents.

BTW, if you are facing somebody who can only make this move with a straight or better, you should fold. This obviously wasn't the case in this hand.

    Preflop is ok.

    Flop: Reraise/push.

Long term you win money. He coulda held AA or KK longterm middle PP that set on the flop will build your BR.
