Default Should I have seen it comming?

My call preflop with small pocket pair might seem odd, but the raise was a normal AK/AQ/AJ/KQ/KJ raise for this player and I make this kind of call now and then although I will probably fold most of the time. Then with the scary flop I was testing him for an ace and his call told me he probably held AX. Then with the slowplay check followed by my hit on the river I thought I was doing great until the showdown...... Should I have seen it comming

In a 9 handed game you pretty much have to assume that
someone will have an A unless the flop is AAA. His PFR should
have been an indication that he has something with an K, A or
a pair. Not sure I would have called that with 33.

My strategy for playing low pairs with more than 5 hands is
to sneak into the flop as cheap as possible. I will typically
not call > 2x BB PFR. But I am more into tourney play so this
probably needs to be relaxed for rinng games.

You can't see this coming. 99% of the time you double up there against AK/AQ/AJ. This case is painful but I think you played the hand the way it should've been played.

How lucky for someone to not only hit quads, but have their opponent hit their full house at the end! mmm doubleluck...

I agree with the comment that his pre-flop raise should have at least worried you. But mostly, he played a blinder and got lucky with both his cards and your cards. What can you do.

Umm what are you still doing in the hand?

I would have checked the flop, if he bets you fold, check the turn was fine, and the river well thats all she wrote

The guy didn't bet. He didn't have a chance to get out of the hand.

I like the flop bet, because it makes you sure he's got an Ace. Other than that, stby.

Thanks for comments. I will still defend my flop bet, because I have taken several smaller pots by betting scary flops to a preflop aggressor that didn't hit. But like I said I would in many cases get out of the hand preflop and also on most flops.
