    Default Simple call or fold.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

    Staple Gun ($54.20)
    UTG+1 ($50)
    MP1 ($23.80)
    MP2 ($57.65)
    CO ($29.85)
    Button ($57.15)
    SB ($37.05)
    BB ($19.50)

Preflop: Staple Gun is UTG with A, Q.
Staple Gun raises to $1.5, UTG+1 calls $1.50, 6 folds.

    Flop: ($3.75) A, 5, 2 (2 players)
    Staple Gun bets $2, UTG+1 calls $2.

    Turn: ($7.75) A (2 players)
    Staple Gun bets $2.5, UTG+1 calls $2.50.

    River: ($12.75) K (2 players)
Staple Gun bets $9.5, UTG+1 raises to $44, Staple Gun ???

I know hes not a maniac, what could he have here? I just cant imagine him pushing with anything except AQ, AJ, or a made full house. I thought AK wouldve raised before the river though.

I think he could possibly play AK like this. But I see him play KK somewhat like this, besides preflop. He probably called the flop to see what you'd do on the turn. He saw a weak bet on the turn so decided to see if he could see the river for cheap. on the river he realizes You had the A so he really raises hard. Idk this is borderline for me, if you don't have a read of him bluffing then I'd fold.

Your c-bet looks weak, an even $3 will balance out better.
1/2 pot at least on the turn.

What are you trying to do in this hand?

As played, I'd lay this down to a typical Poker-Stars full-buy nit. You're not good here very often.

The way he played the hand it looks like youre beat. I'll guess 55 or 22 since he called you all the way down. Thats how I would play that hand since I know anyone holding a lone A is looking at a real tough laydown.

On the flop I was betting small enough so he could reraise if he wanted. On the turn I guess I shoulda checked or bet more.

    What would you have done?

Without a solid read, it's a pretty standard fold IMO. First of all, I would probably just fold preflop or limp, depending on how aggressive the table has been preflop. On the flop I bet $3 and probably check/call the turn. He's not calling your flop bet with a draw, so I suspect he either has a monster or is drawing almost dead. If he checks behind on the turn, then value bet the river. 22 and 55 are the first hands that come to mind, but AK is a possibility as well. Put it this way. Do you think villian makes this play with AJ/AT or air?
