You asking if your line sucks? No, it doesn't. Lots of scare cards, that may or may not be scare cards, for you and your opponent can hit turn.

So you think this play maximises EV?

I think so, yes.

If he's drawing you want to get it in because duh. If he has a big made hand you want to get it in because some of those hands will shutdown or be frightened at some turns. You may also be frightened. Will you willing play for stacks when the 3h comes? Lots of cards are scary here. Not a shitload, but enough to want to get it in. He could easily have 55 there, and neither of you will wanna play heavy anymore if a scare hits. If he has 99 or something he will most likely not bluff much of his stack at you after you call his raise.

But what do I know. I posted a very similar hand and question a few weeks back.

Well if he has a set this is the best play.

If he has a flush draw, id be inclined to call and pot a none scary turn. Reason: I think he'll more likely call that than a flop shove, so my $EV is probably greater (but maybe it needs working out).

Top pair or less and i'd like to call and check the turn allowing him to bluff.

I guess the best $EV play is the one that maximises our earnings against this range.
