    Default Tag/multi-teaming games

I haven't seen any threads on this topic ... maybe because it's considered to be a no-no... and it could be in any game except for MTT so those ever-powerful administrators can move this post wherever.

I have often thought how easy it would be to tag/multi-team a game either online or at a B&M. The ability to reraise a good player out of a good hand (like TPTK) when you have two or more players just seems to be so clear. I know I would probably fold a hand like AQ when the flop is 78Q and my bet gets raised and then reraised by two players.

So my question is how often does it happen online - anything you can do to avoid it other than just leave the table?

How much trouble can you get into for doing it?

Is it really as easy as it seems like it should be in my head, or do the fish/so-so players end up making it a possible money losing venture?

me and a friend plan on doing this in B&M casinos. Im not sure how easy it is, but id assume it cant be that tough, and if done right it should make a LOT of money. As for online, I havet seen any tag-teaming yet at least at 100 NL, but a friend of mine told me that at 400+ NL (on PartyPoker) there's a lot of collusion going on.

Collusion is not the sort of thing a PartyPoker employee could spot easily either. Its often involves little manuevers that only an advanced player would be able to identify as collusion that occur.

At that level, everyone multitables so much that you end up with the same two people on every table (if theres only 8 tables availaible at 400 NL, and I play on 7 of them as well as does some other shark-tag-like-player, then we are going to be on the same table a lot even though we arent colluding). This makes it hard for them to spot collusion just based on two people being at the same table too much.

I think this is why collusion succeeds at the highest levels..

I think this is ethically wrong. Anyone who works with another player or softplays anyone is cheating.

Given that, I'd like to see this in action. I think someone trying this against me would probably just give me more money for my big hands. Especially if you could spot the collusion, you could just rope-a-dope all the way to the river ... only you'd have 2 dopes instead of one.

But I agree it would be difficult to combat against with less powerful holdings like TPTK.

Collusion is cheating and wrecks poker games. I hope no one from this forum engages in it, and if they do I hope they leave this site and don't come back. It's unethical in extremis. If you can't outplay people individually in an individual-oriented game, you deserve to lose.

And by the way, doing this in a decent casino is a horrible idea. Not just on ethical grounds. If you care about leaving with your money and maybe going back to the place at any point later in your life, you'll think better of this idea.

If you see it happen on your table, you should report it to support giving hand numbers and screennames.

If you get caught doing it, you will most certainly have all your funds revoked and be banned from playing at the site ever again.

Collusion is a huge no-no, please avoid even bringing it up, it could entice newbies and lurkers into doing it, which is very very bad.

I blame this on ESPN's Tilt. The only thing dumber than the show would be to try to do it and think it won't have serious negative repercussions. Even if the site or casino doesn't catch you, Karma's a bitch and she don't forget.

i would report this to the online casino everytime so they can investigate it. its very very very easy to spot this out in a limit game.

in a no limit game, you and your friend try this, and say the player you are trying to push out has the nuts, he's going to take both of your stacks, so its not even worth it even if it was legal.
