Default For those who play sick number of tables...

Are most of your decisions stats dependent? Or do you still have a lot of notes and reads on players?

I was 8-tabling the other day and playing good, but I was finding I wasn't getting that many notes on people. Probably because I don't see most of the hands directly.

If you do make a lot of notes, what is the best strategy for this? Just opening up the hand history and reading through it after the hand? Does that not take away from the tables you are playing? Or are you just able to handle that.

Or do you just make notes less frequently, when you see something happening or you are actually involved?

Also, what are your computer specs? Cause my computer has serious issues running multiple tables and displaying HUD stats. But then again, my computer is a piece of shit. I need to get my laptop back from HP

I run 8 tables of FR with PT and PaHud and will get the occasional freeze. Don't know if this is from my PT or what but I have a 1.7 ghz processor and 1 gig of memory.

I tend to make notes when a player does something that's either 1) very/easily exploitable or 2) something I wouldn't know based on their stats.

For an example of 1, if someone limp/calls a lot preflop, I'd like to know what their range is.

For an example of 2, if someone is running something like 8/2/0.5, and three-barrel bluffs a raised pot, that's something else I'd like to know about.

i run 6 tables of FR and PA Hud with a 6year old laptop with only 256Mb of ram. Every half hour i close hud and open PT to import hands. Then close PT and open hud. Seems to work ok.
I take notes while I'm playing when it seems important - a 13-9 I want to know whether they are playing SCs, AXs or broadways in addition to their pairs etc...

I play 14 with PT and GT+. No time for notes, but mostly because I'm ADD and hang out with friends/read FTR/chat on IM while playing. If something extraordinarily strange happens it's worth noting, but by and large stats only are more than enough for the vast majority of situations in microstakes NL, (maybe even low stakes?) PS what can PAHUD do that GT+ can't?
My sig is too much for you to handle.

I mostly just rely on stats, although I do make specific notes on regulars who I see alot. Also, If I see anyone who is playing fairly tight poker over 50+ hands I make a little note on them, that way if I see a load of notes to my right, I knowto look for another game/seat.

I created a new database in PT over the weekend and this solved the problem. I had over 80K in the previous one which was slowing it down dramatically. Everything is working great now.

Does compacting the database speed it up significantly? I compact mine pretty regularly, but i have never waited a long time to see if it slowed it down a lot

No not much. You are better off having multiple databases for your pc to run the best. You can always combine the databases when you want also to see your overall stats.

My laptop was unstoppable when it was working, probably because it was dual-core.

I need to hook my desktop up with dual core poooower.

Or like, 6 processors. That would be sweet.
