That was the worst possible river card. You can beat a bluff, but that's about it.

That's exactly what I was trying to beat. When flop action was given to me, I was fairly sure villain was on two high cards without a flush draw. If villain had something along the lines of AK/Q of hearts, wouldn't they lead the flop?

not necessarily, hes out of position against a player representing a high pair. he would hate to be raised. hearts are a huge possibility, as well as 99,88,66, and 22.

99-22 seems unlikely since I doubt he'd raise them UTG.

if hes 22/17 then he is certainly capable of raising those cards UTG...im not saying thats what he has but i see no reason to discount it. obviously this isn't what he had because of the comment you just made...but i would probably put him on 88 with him putting you on QQ-AA, going for a check-raise on the turn.

Hmmm... I guess there isn't much left to really be discussed about the hand. I was factoring in that he made a loose call preflop when I raised him, and really got stubborn with me and called the flop anyways. When I checked behind on the turn, I was trying to induce a bluff if a card (that wasn't scary given my read on him) dropped, and it did. He bet out, I insta-called, and he showed AQd.

nice read then...but i think there are many many hands that play this the same way that beat you. i cant believe he called you with AQ OOP after you reraised an UTG raiser. he obviously gave you no credit for some reason
