I was playing NLHE last night on a 6 seater 0.25/0.50 after coming home from the pub so was playing a bit looser than usual, but still thinking pretty clearly. Or so I thought.

First Hand

Pocok: Button
Sir: SB
Ott: BB
Ben: UTG
MP is Cool sitting out.
LP: Jafa

I have been playing for awhile now and have Ott tagged as loose/very loose aggressive although he has taken down some very healthy pots and is getting lots of action, he is raising and calling everything. At one stage he calls a decent bet on the turn with 56off vs a solid player because the turn is a 5. Naturally he gets a river 5 as well. He has around $140 or so. I have about £45 or so.

It limps round to me and I look down on KK and limp in also because I know Ott will likely raise the pot in BB. Pocok limps, Sir folds and predictably Ott raises to $4. Ben folds and I make it $16 to go. Pocok gets out of the way. Ott almost instantly raises to put near enough all in. I put him on any high card ace, any high pocket (99 or better) or even KQs, so I stick it all in.

Board comes 8s, Jc, 4s, 5s, Qc and I double up, Ott mucks and proceeds to go on severe tilt for a few hands and lose another $60 or so, before building it back up again.

Looking good right? Well then this happens...

Second Hand

Cool: button
Jafa: SB
Sir: BB
Ott:

The other 2 pos were sitting out.

Ott raises to $1 UTG, Cool (very tight, solid) calls and I look down at KK so make it $4 to go. Sir folds and Ott calls. I have around $70 - $75 or so and he has almost that.

Flop comes down 5d 2s 8s.

The pot is at $16 i think so after Ott checks I make it $9.50 to call. This is where I think I went wrong. Ott smooth calls.

The turn comes down 6h and Ott goes all in.

Admittedly I must say I thought he was simply trying to push me off the pot again, so I stick all my chips in and wait for the payout, I almost spent some of the money already. The river is a 3d.

Ott turns over 7h9h for a straight and my stack.

Now I am not posting this as a bad beat story because I'm not sure it is. He is either very clever and knew he had the table image where I would risk all if he hit the 6 (plus I had done it once already) so making the implied odds ok, or he just got very lucky.

What I want help with is where did I make the mistake - I keep coming back to my flop bet of $9.50 and thinking I should have taken the pot down right then with a solid $16 or more bet. When he check called I should have put him on a draw, although I still don't think I could have put him on the cards he had. Should I have laid down KK at the point he went all in??

Loose players like this give me a massive headache and always seem to be the ones that wipe me out. Whats worse is I had to stop playing and go hit the xbox cause I knew I would likely be heading towards tilt!!! Just hope that one of the other solid players at that table ended up with my cash in the end.

Righto well sorry for the super long post, I can never work the handhistory program right hence me typing it all in longhand.

Any help would be most appreciated...
