This hardly makes sense. What could this guy have? I'm thinking that maybe he miraculously had four queens.

This is a deeply confusing hand. I'm not sure why you made the decisions you made - calling the pre-flop re-raise, or calling the flop bet with only second pair against a very likely overpair. Did you for some reason think he would re-raise with AK, or were you hoping to hit one of your 5 outs after the flop?

Because I was hoping to either catch a good flop or bluff him out on a later street. His flop bet was fairly small, so I figured there was some chance he only had A-K, which meant I was ahead, and even if I wasn't, I thought that I may be able to either improve to a winning hand (though this wasn't really the idea), or bluff him out on a later betting round. The Q on the turn appeared to be the perfect card for that.

He might've had AQ and was trying desperately hard to get as many chips out of the pot as possible.

I can't see him having AA/KK/JJ here, as he would've only called the river bet.

If he had AQ or KQ, and he feels that you are betting either top pair or a bluff, then he is perfectly happy to sit and call your increasingly big bets until the river, where he raises you because he knows he's going to win. I'm afraid your betting makes no sense to me, unless your reads tell you he's very likely to be bluffing.

(I always stubbornly stay in these hands and stubbornly hand over most of my chips almost every time)

How many bluffs did you recently show down at this table?

If any, I think he could have AA, KK, or possibly AQ.

If none, I think he could have TT, QQ, or be bluffing. The big reraise preflop could be someone trying to win TT without a flop.

Definitely feels like a slowplay to me.

Often when I don't understand the betting patterns lately, it seems to be because I've been bluffing too much and no one believes what I'm representing.

Why doesn't it make sense? If he's any good, he has to fold any hand that doesn't contain a Q, and he isn't likely to have the Q given both that he reraised preflop (meaning he probably has either a high pair or A-K), and then two showed up on the board.

preflop action is marginal at best.

river is okay.


fold to the reraise preflop. the reason this hand is so confusing is because you tried to make a move on a pot that couldnt be bought. ALWAYS consider your fold equity.
