Default What's your line here? (difficult Ax hand)

This is from a SnG but I feel that it is a situation fairly applicable to both cash games and tournaments. Obviously it is best to avoid this situation by folding PF, but it is hard to justify folding PF in this situation with the potsize as it is after the open limp and the antes.

All thoughts would be appreciated both on the flop and the turn.

I've whited out my flop play which includes a bit about my line of thought. I'll post a result summary later.

champ7767 would limp the odd pot but once he really decided to participate, he bet pretty hard. don't want to call him true TAGG but definitely not LAGG either as he wasn't raising to open.

rfarmer was definitely TAGG and I had the feeling it was trouble when he involved himself in a pot. Very, very tight.

    Your move, part 1!

I decided to try to check/raise this. I don't really like my kicker and perhaps a check/raise can win the pot outright. If opp comes over the top I probably dump the hand.

    your move part 2!

Unless you hit 2 pair on the flop you are fucked. Since you didn't raise to try and guage some strength from your opps, playing that shit will only get you into trouble.

    Fold PF

you just check raised and the guy called... he must have something like trips or two pair...

Tournament play - he min bet the flop - he either has a weak ace or a 9x - possible trips but I doubt it...if he has 89 you're in trouble on the turn. 9T you're good - you have to bet the turn probably a bump up to 800 to see where you're at. He's the chip leader and is much more likely to bet middle pair weakly and call to see if he can two pair or trip up to beat you.

As far as tourney play goes, if you're going to play a weak ace here you at least have to weak bet the flop...owise you get yourself into this goofy situation...

I would not apply this to cash ring 9-10 max as the obvious answer has already been stated - fold preflop.

Just to close this out -

I ended up forcing the situation by pushing on the turn. I had the opp on a weak Ace. (this was a potentially foolhardy move, but I went with my read). I also wanted to have the opp make the tough decision.

Opp called and turned over A6.

River was a K, counterfeiting my hand . We chopped the pot; this was the second large pot that I chopped where I was ahead and was in position to double up...
