Default Winning pots like this makes me a worse player

My pre-flop call was a mistake - literally just wasnt paying attention and missed the raise. I think after that I might have been OK with pot odds (though I didn't factor that poppy was probably drawing to a higher flush), but when I didn't improve I was quite surprised to see I was winning. Up till then I'd thought Dave was fairly tight. I don't know what my story is here except that seeing stuff like this makes me question some of the laydowns I make, which is dangerous.

Yep, preflop call is a mistake. This is why it is so tough to play draws out of position when they miss. As played however, I like leading the flop or putting in a flop CR. CR'ing is sexy because it puts a squeeze on the original raiser, and he isn't calling with just missed overcards. It also puts poppy in an awkward spot. Even though you are getting proper pot odds to call the flop bet, I hate it since you are OOP and the flush part of your draw is not well disguised, meaning little implied odds against an overpair. Taking the aggressive approach lets you win the hand in two ways instead of one.
