while he did pull off the miracle turn, i can see so many flaws in my play that it makes me want to puke. thoughts?

i wanted a cheap-ish showdown, so i tried fnord's advice and got burned in this instance. i agree with what you said though, i certainly shouldnt be calling the river.

i think the big mistake lies in calling preflop with big unsuited cards. i either gotta raise or fold. what do you think of this theory?

it might work, but i am just too big a wimp to reraise with aq preflop. I think there is nothing wrong with calling then raising the flop.

I like that theory. The only time I've done this recently, however, I got burnt by aces... A reraise would make the low pockets go away though

I don't reraise AQ preflop, but I do raise it at that flop. Your raise on the flop quite possibly might have saved you the pot

Raise the flop. You want information as early as possible before you get to the expensive streets. His 2/3 bet on the flop (coupled with the PFR) seems to indicate a good A hand - which he is successfully representing. With AQ I would challenge that with a pot sized raise to make it another $15 to go. If I don't take the pot right there I go into "safe mode" and only call the smallest bets - I assume he holds AJ, AQ, AK or JJ.
